RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I still don't understand why they're building this project riiiiight next to Apollo's lift. Idk, just seems like a weird, cramped location to me.

Even beyond that, why add another flat to another of the most flat-heavy areas of the park? Think about it for a moment- basically every single flat ride the park has is in Festa, San Marco, or Oktoberfest. What about the other half of the park?

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Because the park wants to have Festa Italia full of GP ready to waste money on games and food. Think about how Scotland doesn't have flats,France doesn't have flats, and many other areas. All of the areas with flat have food and sometimes games.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Yes, all flat rides at the park are generic. But those are small flat rides. This is 150+ feet tall, which makes it a bigger flat ride. Which is something you want something unique on. Where is the park being unique in this? "We will be building a 150 foot tall swing ride when you can drive about 60 miles up north to ride a ride that's taller, has on board music, and an epic lighting package to transform the riders experience at night.

Starflyers are still somewhat unique since most parks don't have them yet. Outside of Windseeker, the closest startflyer towers are hours away. A 150 foot swing ride is still gonna be a draw regardless. Would I like to see the park get a frisbee or a top spin or maybe something unique? Yeah, but a starflyer is just as good. Even if it is smaller than KD's.

On top of that, the park still built Mach Tower despite Drop Zone being an hour north. Mach Tower may have a few gimmicks here and there, but they're hardly "one of a kind" anyway. The one unique gimmick the ride has doesn't even work anymore.

As for why Festa is getting this over other areas... Like I've said before a few times in the forums, Festa is a dead-end area with only two rides worth riding (three counting the train) and both of those rides were built over a decade ago. It's about time the park swap the ugly faded tents for something new to revitalize the area and a new ride should help balance the crowds between Oktoberfest and San Marco/Festa.

The other areas seem strapped for space so sticking it elsewhere would mean the park would have to move/remove something in order to stick it there. In this case, they'd probably just have to remove a few games booths and the ice cream shop. Not a huge loss.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Hey! For some of us that ice cream shop is currently the only reason to visit Festa other than AC. I really hope Roman Frieze isn't sacrificed on the altar of progress.

While I agree that Festa is flat heavy along with Italy and Oktoberfest. I'd really hate to see Ireland, England, or France have something beautiful knocked down in favor of a flat. If they must build one go ahead and do it in an area that is already crap vs ruining something nice.

I think the park has focused the rides in Italy and Germany to emphasize each area of the park as either exciting and carnival-esque, or serene and less intense. If the park started putting flats in Ireland and Aquitaine, it would begin to detract from their overall image, whereas Festa's and Oktoberfest's image was predetermined as "Rides! Games! Noise! Lights!"

If something is too ugly and generic to be installed in one of the park's "nicer" areas, it probably shouldn't be installed at all. I guess the days of the park being concerned with atmosphere and the like are over though. :-/

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I know somebody else mentioned it in the thread, if it really is one of those tower swing things, What would the view even be of? Half the time you'll be look at Apollo's footers, and the rest? The tops of faded tents? The train? the top/back end of the outside pasture area?

There really isn't much to look at, in that area. Mach Tower at least has a nice view of the park.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

As Applesauce said, if it's a Starflyer the ride isn't going to give you much of a nice view. Hey Apollo's footers, hey parking lot, hi Festa Italia, that's it. At 150 feet you get a better view from Windseeker than you will from this ride. As much as I'd hate to say it this ride would be better off in an area like England or Scotland, they really are better off closer to the center of any park than the farthest corner.

Or it'll be something like this:

Poor Ireland/England/France. 2 rides combined (Griffon & EitA).

Wait, EitA is opening this year?

Or, is it just still 1 ride in Ireland/England/France?

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Good to know! My 5 yr old LOVES this ride (he's probably one of the only ones).

I had thought it was still closed, as it's not on the park map (the one posted on the website).

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

When I was at the park today, in line for apollos chariot, I happened to notice three orange markers in the project 2015 spot. Upon looking a little more I noticed another one on the hill by the main entrance to Apollo's. Would these have anything to do with the future ride?

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Yup. Utility markings have been going down for a while now. I'll have to see if there's anything new to be seen when I'm over there next.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I'm just throwing this out there...

When my wife was in line for a ride today she overheard an employee telling a guest that the new ride would be a wooden coaster.

Ok. Have at it. Lol.
