RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

It's sad to see Busch Gardens going to catalog rides in order to bring in attendance. While Mach Tower was one of the biggest failures of an attraction, they still went out and got something custom built to fit the area and to try to provide something special. This is just something I go to Six Flags to ride.

This still may not be what's coming, I really actually doubt we're getting this. Nothing is determined yet.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

After Mach Tower and Verbolten (amazing ride, but failed to boost attendance), the park is probably trying to play it safe for the next few years. I imagine for 2015 they just want something proven that the gp will still generally consider new and exciting (within the park's lineup of flat rides, that is).

Really, seriously? They need to just not. They already have a swing ride... I mean, please, PLEASE don't build another tower drop/shoot ride with mach failure already in place. It makes no sense.

I would be seriously underwhelmed if this is what comes. Very generic for Busch Gardens. Probably horrible capacity. But if it led to an area retheme that would be the only positive thing about it.

I could see something like that going in there, even though I agree it would be very generic for BGW. The area is kind of carnival-esque anyways so it would fit in fairly well...it's not something I would ride, but I'm sure many people like it.

Just curious, does anyone know how often companies like that sell rides like this? Are we talking 1 a year or 10+ a year? I realize that there are amusement parks around the world, but once you sell a ride once, it generally lasts a long time. Maybe they stay in business with parts and support?

Luna Park and Holiday World have just recently added the Zamperla versions. There's a ton of installations out there though. That said, guests see them as being identical to Windseekers and Star Flyers so they should be tossed into the pile as well. When you do that... They're everywhere.

I thought of the polercoaster too, but gave up after the 'Lattice Tower' discovery.

Yea really...Wouldn't that height just give you a view of AC's lift hill? Half the revolution on the swing would be watching it clank it's way up the hill.

Since everyone's knocking the potential new ride, I'll put my support into it.

- It's a flat ride. The park NEEDS flat rides. Something like this will help balance out the park's current selection.
- The park NEEDS a blockbuster flat ride. Every other park in the world has a top spin and giant frisbee. Not every park in the world has a starflyer.
- Having ridden Mach Tower and the park's roller coasters, there's no such thing as a bad view of the park. In fact, I love the view of the park from Apollo (maybe even more than the view from Mach).
- Don't complain about the park adding generic flats when just about every flat in the park is generic. OK fine, Mach has its gimmicks, but most of them don't work anymore. The only "unique flat" in the park is DarKastle. That's only if you consider DarKastle is a flat ride to begin wth.
- While I can't vouch for capacity (the Windseekers seem to have that down), these rides are pretty reliable (which the Windseekers didn't have down for quite some time - because they were down for quite some time). If the park wants something that doesn't break down and leave guests stranded in midair for three hours or have extensive Mach Tower-style downtime (I'm looking at you Windseeker), these are the way to go.
- I personally like the look of the towers. Plus the LEDs at night look fantastic. I hope the park does the whole LED package.

I believe they specifically told JCC it wouldn't be lit.

Also, 2015 is the park's 40th anniversary. An event you usually build something special and to promote. But we're possibly getting something highly generic.

And to netdvn's comments. Yes, all flat rides at the park are generic. But those are small flat rides. This is 150+ feet tall, which makes it a bigger flat ride. Which is something you want something unique on. Where is the park being unique in this? "We will be building a 150 foot tall swing ride when you can drive about 60 miles up north to ride a ride that's taller, has on board music, and an epic lighting package to transform the riders experience at night.

I see nothing practical here in there decisions and it seems they're just throwing something down that they can afford in the hopes that it brings in people.

Meh, it's just a good idea to consistently remind everyone it's a conversation built on a hypothetical premise- especially the more casual readers of the boards. Many people who don't necessarily participate will read the last page of a thread, see a ton of talk about a certain theory, assume it to be truth, tell all their friends, and it eventually snowballs into a baseless, uncontrollable rumor. Best to avoid such things.

We should always keep this in mind in any thread.
