Fortunately Kings Dominion and Hersheypark are kicking ass and SFA seems to be on the upswing so there are other options. By the way, forum members, there ARE other options.
Have to agree with this. Last summer I took my first trip to Hersheypark in nearly 20 years. Brought the family (as opposed to selfishly going solo, I guess?). Outstanding experience. We will visit again this year. Staying at the Hotel Hershey made me wish there were a near-equivalent to it adjacent to the BGW property, at least in terms of service.

Anyway, Tempesto.

The financial problem is company wide. It's just that many people believe BGW is just outright making the worst decisions out of every park.

With perhaps an occasional comparison to Tampa, I do not recall anyone ever saying that they believed BGW was "making the worst decisions..."

I apologize for my lack and clarity. I probably should have stated that the company as a whole is struggling financially. However, people complain frequently that the park is making the worst decisions compared to previous seasons. I wasn't trying to say BGW is making the worst decisions compared to any other park, but it's own history.

Either way, I don't think many people on these forums are excited about the direction the park has been taking and that direction is in a way costing them money.

The bigger concern for me is that the company on the whole is struggling with the fundamental issue of guest relations and providing a good guest experience. I've been to BGW, BGT, SWSA, and SWO in the last year or two, and they've all been horrible experiences in one way or another. It's a shame to see that Six Flags trains their employees better than SEAS, and many of the decisions being made at these parks just baffle me. For instance, why would you spend 7 million dollars on a roller coaster and then just not tell anyone? I mean, the financial struggles are of great magnitude, but horrible service will just augment that far too quickly.

Word of mouth, getting people extremely interested in something that normally they wouldn't be that interested in if it was already announced. Get people curious and intrigued about what is going on.

Just think, if they had already announced it, would people really have spent 184 pages of yeah it's already been announced. Or since they have not announced it, there have been 184 pages of I wonder why they haven't said anything. It's that bit of curiosity that keeps the word traveling and grabs people's attention.

Verbolten's construction thread had over 360 pages, and we knew that one existed.

184 or 1000 pages on a fan have a value approaching 0 when it comes to mass marketing. There are very few people on this site, or any fan site in relation to the population as a whole. Further we are hardly a useful sampling of any demographic.

Using us as a sample set for ride awareness would be like using the people in a MENSA meeting as a sample set for test taking ability.

This is pretty sad.

BGW is spending money to get people spend money. Instead, they spend the money and don't tell people about it. Look at Carowinds. They are spending 30 million on Fury 325. They are telling the ENTIRE world that hey, we are building Fury 325, the world's tallest and fastest giga coaster, come out to spend the day with us.

Shame on you BGW.

Kings Island did the same thing last year with Banshee. It is not unheard of, though it is dumb.

If anything, we'd have just spent 600 more pages obsessing over the color and font of the official logo and other tangential "clues" completely unrelated to the ride itself.

Most people don't visit fan sites like these, and most people have no idea that a crappy clone coaster is coming to BGW.

You are right most people don't visit these site and they don't know about the new ride.

However, a lot of people have seen the construction and have been searching for information and gossiping about what could it possibly be or if they do happen to know about it, why the park hasn't announced it, etc.

It's not drumming up the amount of discussion you think it is other community boards. CoasterForce only has 7 pages of discussion, other forums around the same (Coasterbuzz and ALT come to mind). TPR hasn't been turning their forums over the thing either, Fury alone has made over 400 pages of comments whereas Tempesto has only managed maybe 40. Media groups have not made any comments or stories about the ride since it started construction, most just mentioning it in off-hand comments. Most comments I've heard about it while at Great Adventure have stemmed into "interesting marketing practices" over the fact that it's a new ride.

Their measure of drumming up interest is not working like you think it is. Maybe they can manage a decent year with it, but as far as I'm willing to predict Tempesto won't bring attendance numbers like Verbolten did, nor the years before that.

EDIT: Going to clarify the actual numbers on the TPR forums since the announcement dates (and when Ground clearing for Tempesto started).
-Carowinds since $50 million investment was announced: 323 pages
-Carowinds since Fury 325 officially announced: 182 pages
-BGW since Tempesto broke ground: 55 pages
-BGW since Tempesto was "officially announced" : 6 pages

I didn't say I thought it was drumming up discussion on other boards. I know that most people do not visit community boards and even looking at community boards the interest is come and go. I also didn't say it is or isn't working.

I'm just throwing it out there that, "Hey maybe the park is trying to do this." People keep asking why, why, why hasn't the park announced it. I at least gave a possibility to that question. Whether it's true or not or if it is successful or not is not the issue I am concerned about.
