One possibility is that they build the drop over the rhine and have it drop into the ravine. 300ft drop without the 300ft height.... The one thing I dont understand is the launches... It makes no sense at all....

note that even though they didn't say a coaster was in the works, they never really say what it is up front anyway. i.e. Mach Tower.

<rant>

Can't we all just agree that a 300ft coaster will NEVER be built at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Why should they when their is one 60 miles up the road. What is this? A Six Flags park!

</rant>

I think 95ft sound reasonable.

I have a feeling that we could be seeing a coaster more like Curse of Novgorod... I pray its an Intamin!

What's more marketable to the general public? A 95ft coaster, or a 300+ ft coaster (ESPECIALLY when the park down the road has one).

BGW has done some crazy things in the past and some things that most of us are not proud of, but I don't think they're crazy enough to replace their only family coaster with another towering hyper caster.

You know, rather than saying what we arent getting, like you are more in the know than the rest of us, Why not allow us to speculate?

There is plenty of good reason for Busch to build a 300ft+ coaster. Plenty... But even I dont even think it's feasible, but we got a few people posting on here who obviously know something who wouldnt be posting this rumor if there wasnt good reason to believe it.

Reasons to build a giga:

1.Kings dominion just opened what is being hailed as one of the best coasters ever, even with the trims and is billing it as the tallest fastest coaster on the east coast, which it is(unless you would like to count kingda ka).

2.They upset alot more people then many of you may ever know by removing the big bad wolf. I dont know if you guys realize it or not, but Busch is a staple of family fun and entertainment for the whole 7 cities. Busch Gardens is like the mom and pop ice cream shop down the street for alot of families, unlike just about any other theme park I've been to. Everything there means something to a few generations of families. They need something huge and unbelievable to make up that loss, and Blackstone is more than willing to back them on it I'm sure. Just look at some of the rides that have been built in their other parks. Virginia is home to alot of coaster lovers... Ace was founded at Kings Dominion, and officially became Ace at Busch... Personally I believe that says alot about the local area...

3.They know we like HUGE rides, and Busch has been home to the biggest tallest coaster in the area up until KD built i305

4. They will gain more out of state guest if they can have a "Biggest on the east coast", "Largest <insert gimmick here>", "Only one of it's kind"... That's why parks build monster coasters, and it's all the more reason to give fire to this rumor(and the 2014 rumor).

5. Expansion. Busch needs it. It's not like they are a small park, but they hardly have any rides compared to other parks it's size for the average park goer. King's Dominion may always seem empty, but they have TONS of attractions eating people and keeping them out the path... Busch doesnt... KD always seems empty to me too until I try and hop in the line for any of the coasters and realize everything is an hour plus wait, then I realize all the "Uber flats"(I.e Drop zone, Tomb raider) are 30-45 minute waits as well. It's got nothing to do with poor operation, Just means lots of people are in the park and they are occupied by the attractions. All the people on the pathway at Busch is NOT a good thing...

Reasons not to build it:

Kingsmill.

I think this would fall under the reason NOT to because (like I said before) you can't replace your only family friendly caster with a 300+ footer. That kinda ruins your family friendly reputation.

Why would that ruin your family friendly reputation? I honestly think people dont give kids enough credit. BBW was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Very intense ride, though it sported such a low height requirement.

Every ride doesnt have to be "kid friendly"(and by kid, I mean those that are still having fun in sesame street). Just about every ride I can think of is family friendly. Every single attraction, minus probably Darkastle is family friendly. I know ten year olds who think Griffon is too tame, and know 35 year olds who think it's intense. Please tell me what a family friendly roller coaster should be? Young kids everyday ride every single coaster in that park and think nothing of it, other than it was fun.

Another good point Youhow. Calling Big Bad Wolf a "family coaster" is very misleading. Actually, calling any coaster a "family coaster" is misleading. I tend to think of the Big Bad Wolf as a "transitional coaster". It was sort of a stepping stone to the more intense rides at the park. Yes, there are many people (of any age) who will just get in line for Apollo without needing any prior coaster experience; however, this isn't always true. I think that the roll of "transitional coaster" should be filled, but I'm not of the opinion that it needs to be filled immediately. There are more pressing issues- particularly the increasing competition from Doswell. When the general public travel to Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg and want to go to a theme park, which seems more appealing: A park with 12 real coasters and cheaper ticket prices or a park with 4 real coasters and more expensive prices?

"Real" coasters excludes kiddie coasters and only counts one side of racing coasters.

I think the 2014 coaster will happen regardless. The park is already due for a new coaster and they just removed one. I see them getting two coasters in the near future.

But we all have to go back to the restictions on buildings...Is it easier to get a height waver for 95' or 300'+. But i Do also agree with the Coaster wars between BGW and the otherparks, YouHow made it clear that Busch will have to compete to stay on top!

I just see one HUGE problem with this. Mach tower is made by Moser. Moser makes 300ft+ towers. KD has a 300+ tower. Busch got a 240ft tower. The cost wouldn't be that much more to make it higher, and out class KD's. This would mean that they have something holding them back from the 300+ mark. Also, it's not just KM they have to deal with. It's the whole county. With Colonial Williamsburg and several "secluded" areas in the general vicinity, they are restict as to what they do. For example, they can't make it so you can hear or see coasters from Colonial Williamsburg, as it would kill the atmosphere.
