Just a quick update, I checked on the PS webcam this Sunday afternoon and there were a couple contractor vehicles parked within the camera's view. (They were working outside of the camera range. The vehicles had what looked to be a name of an electrical contractor on their sides. So, some construction work is occurring on the weekends! (These vehicles were not there early Sunday morning).

I'm sure they are going to be doing electrical whenever the construction crews leave, that way they're not in each others way.

Judging from the work they did on their last ride additon (i305) I'm going to have a ball identifying all the issues with the products they use. At least they put all the important crap (circuit breakers, conduits, etc) a few feet off the ground so water couldn't get to it. Seen many other parks ignore that little detail and they all ended up having to replace the entire electrical system after the end of the season.

Photo from: Sweet Frog Kings Dominion's Facebook

Seems that some more work has been put into the new sweetFrog!

Boy, they got the pavers down quick! Sweet Frog had pictures from this past Saturday and all there was in front of the store was gravel! Check out a picture on their Facebook site from last Thursday the 21st. It is a long distance photo of Sweet Frog from the path in front of the Congo entrance. Look how the park has torn up the whole area around the Doll House Haunt Building!

Just a quick Planet Snoopy webcam update. The workers seem to be focused on the kiddie train ride site. The park has moved what looks to be the train engine and one of the cars to the site. They are centered in the webcam picture to the left of the teacups.

The latest Planet Snoopy webcam mini-update. The 2 vertical supports for Snoopy's Rocket Express, that you can see in the webcam picture, are up. There was a small hydraulic crane sitting on the right side of the webcam picture.

I thought it was going to be a little lower to the ground than that.

I was thinking the same thing. I think the track on this ride is supposed to be level throughout the whole ride circuit. I wonder if the grade of the land is lower near the teacups than say near where the ride station will be? Therefore, higher supports in some areas are needed. Still, I did not think there was that much change in the grade of the land in that immediate area.

The webcam was showing, earlier today, a truck unloading railings. They were in sections and slightly curved. I wonder if they were for the teacup ride? They are out of sight from the webcam now and they are not anywhere near the Whirlybirds ride.

Track segments for Snoopy's Rocket Express just arrived at the park as seen in the above photos according to the parks Facebook page.

I'm going guess that the ride has to be at least 8 to 9 feet above the ground level so that people can't jump up and grab onto the track. Then on top of that, it would need to be adjusted to the terrain. Also the track does stay level since it's a self powered monorail.

Another small update:

It's nice to see that the park is placing some of the rides in areas that never had a ride installation. Especially, around the old sky-ride station/Doll Factory Haunt building.

Based on the pictures between the Kings Dominion and Sweet Frog Facebook sites, it appears all of the smaller new flat rides will be physically installed by the middle of next week. The Kiddie Train ride is mostly completed. I think they are still laying track down and there is the train station to finish. Snoopy's Rocket Express aerial monorail is in progress. My guess is that attraction will be physically complete the week after next.

This timeline does not include all the remaining electrical work, installing ride boundary railings and queue lines. Plus, there is all the landscaping to re-do and the continuation of the brick pavers in the walkways.

Plus, they need to finish the "Taxi Jam" and "Boulder Bumpers" makeovers to "The Great Pumpkin Coaster" and "Lucy's Crabby Cabbies" respectively. I am not sure if the kiddie bump car ride is getting a new operating system and new / refurbished vehicles as part of its refresh. The track on "Taxi Jam" looks like it was recently re-painted.

Now, that leaves the 3 larger new rides to be installed: "Linus launcher", "Lucy's Tugboat", and "Flying Ace Balloon Race". The picture of the new circular concrete pad/base is either for the Linus Launcher ride or the balloon ride. Lucy's Tugboat should be on a rectangle shaped base.

Course, Kings Dominion has a lot of work to do to get this area ready for the 29th. As of yesterday, 4 weeks and counting till opening day!

The next to the last picture in this photo series shows the front of the Sweet Frog shop with the Ghoster Coaster/Woodstocks Express in the background. If you look closely, the wood coaster IS being painted! The lower center section is a very deep Royal Blue. Compare the lower center section to the higher back curve track area. The back curve section is still a faded Robin's Egg Blue color. I would not be surprised if the handrail is painted a bright yellow to contrast with the deep Royal Blue of the ride structure.

Kings Dominion has added new Planet Snoopy construction photos to their Facebook site. These photo highlights include close ups of the kiddie train, Charlie Browns Wind-up (swings), more Snoopy Rocket Express pictures, and the new fountain plaza next to the Peanuts Showplace.

Thanks for Transferring the photos over. I am an ignoramus when it comes to imbedding pictures.

There has been talk on other sites that people feel Dominator received a new coat of paint during this off-season. I always thought the 1st paint job was rushed when the ride was installed at KD. I could see the original yellow showing through the orange on the track spine, especially on the final helix.

[twocents]I preferred the old paint scheme to this one [/twocents]

Yeah mwhinva, I saw those pictures, too. It was hard to justify it then because the picture was taken by a brick, instead of an actual camera like what Evan has posted. If you know who took those pictures, tell them to chip up about $150 for a good camera so they don't have to use their phone.

The track for the monorail is up in front of the monorail now. There is also some white fencing in the air in the background over by the teacups.

Ummm, I assume you meant the monorail track is up in front of the webcam? :shy: Actually, that section of track has been in place since yesterday mid-morning. The brick pavers have been completed from in front of the train all the way to the main path at the bottom of the picture. The workers just completed the two paths near the front of the picture within the last couple of hours.

Yup! Haha Thanks! I did that post in a bit of a hurry sadly.

From the time I last looked the webcam has been zoomed in to see Snoopy's Junction better. Looks like the station is well under way! The area doesn't look half bad... or it could be the terrible webcam quality making it seem a bit better. I wonder how long before Woodstock Whirlybirds starts getting its station.
