Well it has just been announced that tomorrow's 2023 Surf Coaster announcement has understandably been delayed due to Hurricane Ian:

Understandably so, though. Tampa area is already being evacuated and that’s a mere hour away.

Screamscape appears to be unaware of Cutback at Water Country USAs existence this morning….

EDIT for context: Lance was suggesting Cutback could be the surf coasters name because he found it trademarked and didn’t know of anything with that name in the SeaWorld chain. I replied to the tweet identifying Cutback is the name of the WCUSA attraction and I’m not sure if it’s because of that specifically but the note is now gone from screamscape.

I like that the seats move up and down with the ride. I hated standups before because you can try to support you own weight and then your legs are sore the rest of the day.

God, the name is really bad and the fact that they basically reused the Cutback logo with some tweaks is pretty cringe too. The concept is super interesting and B&M deserves a lot of credit for trying something that seems pretty radical. That said, on SEAS' end, this certainly looks like another thrown-together, half-hearted coaster addition with essentially no theme and zero effort beyond the phone call they made to B&M to order the thing.

Uh? What? The concept art doesn't show all, it's themed to surfing. It's not gonna be insanely detailed. We have a themed station, a massive open courtyard for photos, sand, and relaxing steel drum music. In my book, this is a fantastic addition and from my understanding the logo isn't final and the name was changed pretty late into the design

The concept video seems to match the plans I leaked exactly. That means a short queue with an overflow queue that just pours down the pathway, no queue house for switchbacks, etc. Just don't see how this is viewed as acceptable for a major Florida theme park.

I'm ready to be surprised and impressed, but I don't see evidence to suggest that this will be any better aesthetically/thematically than Ice Breaker.

The “Coaster Capital” branding seems odd for what is largely a marine animal park with the exception of advertising to central FL residents. If I want to go to a coaster capital I can think of numerous other places to visit first.

I wonder what the g-forces would have been like if they mounted the "seats" sideways so you can actually look like you are surfing.

Given the way SEAS has been lately my mind when immediately to "How can this be rethemed to put in one of the 2 Busch Gardens parks?" I hope its not "now ride on the back of a dragon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg"

FWIW SWO almost never gets very long lines for any of their coasters.
