Parks have to have a variety of rides to keep everyone happy. It doesn’t mean they can plop a flatride down and say, “Look, here’s a new ride for the families!” And then turn around and build a massive roller coaster that yet again, the kids in the 42-51” demographic can’t ride. Kids love roller coasters too. And, for a majority of the general public, something that they all can do together, is going to be better in the long run than an attraction you have to be 54” to ride.
And too often, "family" coasters are 48" minimum and quite aggressive, serving only to satisfy a few thoosies while scaring a nontrivial amount of just-tall-enough kids back to flats. It's one thing when it's marketed as a full-thrill coaster that happens to have a 48" minimum (see: RMC), but it's another when it's sold as a not-too-intimidating family ride.

A flat at one park will be pretty much the same as a flat at another park. Only tracked rides (or the trackless dark ride) can distinguish one park from another.
 
And there are some coasters (namely Big Bear Mountain) that is a true family coaster has a height req at just 39” while being fun for everyone. Firechaser is another that comes to mind with family coasters.
 
I just wonder how our 2024 family would differ from SWO's. IMO looks like a package deal was bought for intamin straddles, Could they make ours fully indoor ? Or is it entirely different i.e. bobsled, family invert... Darkoaster w/ queue could definitely fit in Sand Serpent/Phoenix/Theater.
 
Ok so the current Montu downtime is unrelated, but I can give a brief description of what I know, which isn't too much.

Cobra's Curse somehow rolled back to a certain extent, which likely led to a valley and/or collision- not entirely sure. Since then, it has reopened with some change to the lift hill that makes it louder.

Montu, on the other hand, I am not entirely sure about. It supposedly valleyed after losing some part (unsure of what), or something to that extent the other day, and was then closed immediately.

And not that you asked, but Tigris is likely down to remove the Comfort Collars, as are Tempesto and Electric Eel at the moment.

That makes a lot of sense as well.

This 1000%. SEAS in particular has been notorious lately for building thrill coasters like Iron Gwazi and marketing them as "family" rides solely because they managed a slightly lower height requirement, even though in reality most kids that age would never want to ride it. It's only a family ride if entire families--including both young children and old adults--are actually interested in riding it, and by their nature roller coasters aren't ideal for that.

If this did happen (and it has happened quite a bit to other rides in the past) then expect an extended delay before the ride reopens. The drives for the controls are extremely hard to get right now and are on serious backorder. @ControlsEE can back me up on that!

Very true. Thankfully a lot of stuff is getting less and less hard to fine. Most of my common Rockwell stuff is under 4 weeks. A 1756-L81ES (flagship safety processor) is actually in stock. That said, rides get struck all the time. They are designed with safties in mind to properly direct current to the ground and not the panel. Sometimes stuff does get through and fries stuff. Lightning is weird. I've been working on a wastewater plant lately and that has a lot of lightning protection. We've already seen it work, frying the surge protectors on the IO instead of the long lead time PLC components.
 
Think there's 2 plausible options. Family wing using rest of Rhino Rally land, or theater straddle? Can't see 24 being Jungala considering they're closing Sand Serpent this yr. Both would fill gaps, latter would kill 2 with 1 stone.

I'm curious if any of the future plans will change at all with the return of Stewart Clark as park president, replacing Neal Thurman.
I wonder what degree of autonomy these park presidents have over new attractions. I mean, from what we've heard it sounds like Scott Ross is ultimately the arbiter in all expenditures across the chain, and we know the company also likes to buy new rides in bulk and install them across the parks. Does Stewart Clark get to say no if the company decides to get, say, four flying theaters or several Sally dark rides and wants to put one at BGT? Can he break with the company's pledge to open a new ride each year at every park?

Will he re-open the Serengeti Restaurant he closed ? Will he replace the god awful headline show that started in his tenure ? Will he continue to make sure every ride put in has NO theming ? As of now, Stewart Clark holds a decent sized key to the 65th anniversary year and beyond.
 
I feel the need to point out something that someone else has already said—and that is that BGT has a height limit (or restriction) and the only reason that Falcon’s Fury is 270 feet tall is because it’s one freestanding tower. A roller coaster (especially of the giga style) would not just be one tower. Trying to get a giga here is pretty much a fruitless effort at this point.

We literally have no proof of this whatsoever. It's just a myth that's been floated around by several people that doesn't really make sense. They'd have to get clearance from the FAA, yes. But that applies to literally any building in the region. Also Falcon's is not 270 feet tall, so I'm not sure where you got that from.
