What was this incident? I’ve heard that Montu is still down…any update?
Ok so the current Montu downtime is unrelated, but I can give a brief description of what I know, which isn't too much.

Cobra's Curse somehow rolled back to a certain extent, which likely led to a valley and/or collision- not entirely sure. Since then, it has reopened with some change to the lift hill that makes it louder.

Montu, on the other hand, I am not entirely sure about. It supposedly valleyed after losing some part (unsure of what), or something to that extent the other day, and was then closed immediately.

And not that you asked, but Tigris is likely down to remove the Comfort Collars, as are Tempesto and Electric Eel at the moment.

Oof. The removal of those awful comfort collars is an improvement but Montu is easily one of the best coasters in the park. Add in the fire with Wild Surge, the issues with Falcon’s Fury, and removal of Sand Serpent, and you have a perfect storm. Hopefully this rumored new addition doesn’t come at the expense of maintaining existing rides.

Yea I agree, and frankly, can't say I'm too optimistic at this point.

70 acres of Serengeti, but guests can only experience thru paid safari or 2mph train. They need to bring back a revamped version of Rhino Rally, to offer all guests a once in a lifetime view from a coaster. Rhino themed, family launch coaster??? Seaworld has Pipeline, give us a coaster unique to our park.
Agree we need some new incarnation of Rhino Rally, though I don't think it should be a coaster. BGT already has a double digit number of coasters and very little else; I think what the park really needs is something similar to the original version of Rhino Rally, a safari ride that takes guests through animal habitats and has some sort of climax at the end, like maybe an indoor screen-based portion.

In the past days, I've heard that Vekoma might not be the manufacturer of the 2024 ride, and that the 2024 ride may not be related to SandSerpent's closure. It seems relatively unlikely that they can get the existing Pantopia structures demolished and a new big sized ride up by Spring 2024.

I've heard it suggested that Project 2024 could be a B&M Family Inverted coaster, which does meet the specifications that have roughly been discussed- 65 foot lift hill on both of the existing installations.

Personally, I still expect it to be a Vekoma family coaster, but I figured the above information was worth mentioning. I do know for sure a family coaster is planned, and another big coaster is planned in the longer-but-not-too far out term.

Why would they want to go with a more expensive family inverter? Will the big coaster be a hyper/giga?

That's an excellent question, and the only way I could see it making sense with with the rumored SEAS 5-coaster B&M deal. That's a large part of why I personally feel it's Vekoma, but I figured it is worth noting here.

Will the big coaster be a hyper/giga?
As I have most recently heard, yes it is some form of a giga. I have, however, heard some suggestions of a Pantheon-style coaster.

Someone mentioned the giga may use the area of Sand Serpent as the station/queue. Thoughts?

If the family coaster is indeed in Jungala, I could totally see that being the case. I don't know specifically if that is the case, but I can personally picture it. It does make sense when you consider the announcement makes mention of an "exciting new addition" to Pantopia.

Are we looking at a potential Tigris/Gwazi type situation with a family appetizer followed by a big thrill for the 24-25 seasons in Jungala/Pantopia?

I just don't understand a family coaster in 2024 when SWO is already getting one.
Parks have to have a variety of rides to keep everyone happy. It doesn’t mean they can plop a flatride down and say, “Look, here’s a new ride for the families!” And then turn around and build a massive roller coaster that yet again, the kids in the 42-51” demographic can’t ride. Kids love roller coasters too. And, for a majority of the general public, something that they all can do together, is going to be better in the long run than an attraction you have to be 54” to ride.

I feel like that 42"-51" is a tough demographic in general. You get some people who want the higher thrill, and some who don't. That's the 5-8 year old range most typically. Personally I think that what parks should do is offer "smaller" versions of some coasters (obviously if they have the space),

For example -
Next to IG they should could do something like InvadR in size and style so they have a 42" height requirement coaster but didn't go all the way to the SS style theme elements so for that 7-8 year old who's out grown that doesn't feel like they are stuck to "little kid" rides.
