I've always been told that if it went down for maintenance whatsoever, it wouldn't return.

ETA: However, the staffing issue is quite indeed possible. It is just interesting, knowing how the land's staffing is structured, that they'd close this ride if any for staffing related reasons.

Here is a video from Midway Mayhem showing general construction going on around the park. At 6:37 he starts talking about a possible family coaster that may be going into Pantopia. He also showed that the pirate ship was removed, and Sand Serpent is still closed.

Project names haven't been indicative of the final project at SEAS lately. SWO's Project Penguin = Pipeline, BGT Project Teel = Tigris, Project Jethro = Serengeti Flyer, etc.

It's a Vekoma family coaster, likely a boomerang model.

They do, but based on what I've heard this ride is not launch-based. Again, I could be wrong- but everything I've heard suggests a Vekoma Family Boomerang model as part of Project Halcyon.
