Assuming this ride does have a meaningful swinging motion, the fact that the VP of DE never mentioned it during the presentation would be quite baffling.

So maybe it swings just a little bit. Engineering is expensive. Are there any issues with the non swinging family inverts that adding a slight swing would help? I've never heard of any, esp for such a smaller coaster like this with a top speed well below 60mph.

Where does that leave us? At this point I feel like I'm beating a dead horse.

I’m still speaking from wishful thinking here, but maybe they felt swinging isn’t a feature worth mentioning since it’s not never-been-done-before? Or alternatively, maybe they still want to keep that under wraps? Again, I agree with you in that these are non-swinging and that somebody in marketing misspoke.

The first generation Vekoma family inverts, without any swinging, have transitions as bad as the SLCs.

It will sway. but it won't swing. It's more to smooth out the transitions then to make the ride experience a "swing". Think more along the lines of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Seven Dwarves Mine Train feels like a decent swing to me. It feels on ride more like an actual functional swing as a ride feature than simply a mechanical function of the train like suspension. Nearly every roller coaster train has some type of mechanical function to smooth out the forces from track to rider.

Without very specific request from BGT (or BGW) for a prototype ride and the addition of some sort of pivoting setup integrated into the existing design of the Family Invert train, B&M would certainly not added a massive wear item to their trains on their own. Especially one that's not actually a ride feature (like the seats on Pipeline SWO). I'd like em to swing! I just don't see it.

How do we know these trains are different than previous B&M Family Inverts besides the restraints?

I think this is the last post I'm going to make on this topic. I've been around for a long time. I know people who are credited on this project. This as a family invert with new seats. The renderings you have seen are accurate and this will not "swing" at all. There are higher ups and marketing folks that are saying the ride swings...because it does. As you go through the layout the ride swings from side to side as it moves through the twists and turns of the layout. There is no mechanism; however, by which the trains will flex in relation to the track from left to right. NONE. This ride will be a great family coaster. But the fixation on assuming this is some kind of suspended coaster revival is ridiculous at this point.

If you want to continue to think this is anything other than a family invert, at this point suit yourself, you've been told.

Beyond the quotes in the initial Phoenix Rising announcement materials, can people provide links to the strongest "confirmations" of a swinging train they've seen? Do have have any direct quotes or video of BGT employees talking about the swinging trains or do we only have influencer-types claiming BGT said there would be swinging on the last construction tour? Basically, do we have anything we can point to when the trains don't swing to show that BGT misrepresented this attraction to the media?

BGT has a responsibility to be "coaster literate," and they shouldn't have bragged about "swinging" trains in the initial announcement. That said, I am willing to give BGT the benefit of the doubt and call it ignorance rather than attributing the purported initial misrepresentation to malice. Following that announcement though, basically all discussion online about this attraction has been in regards to the swinging claims. BGT marketing can not reasonably claim ignorance re: the confusion around the trains post-announcement. Furthermore, I believe BGT has a responsibility to set the record straight when their attraction is being mis-marketed by partnered media and, if they not only failed to do that but also continued to misrepresent the attraction at the recent construction tour, BGT should be called out for it.

If this doesn't swing, this will be the worst misrepresentation since Energylandia calling Zadra a wooden coaster.

I honestly don't feel much of a difference on Dragonflier, y'all acting like this is groundbreaking. I understand it's a new B&M model potentially but it's nothing to fuss about 🤷‍♂️. Swaying back and forth will NOT make the ride that much better.

Edit: I meant model as the trains swinging motion, not the family inverted part. ig I should have been more clear lol
