I am watching video that I shot in 1999 right now.  I have already watched Fiends and Transylvania Express.  I have over 2 hours that I shot that year.  Interested to see what else I have on this video.

Do you have footage of the skeletons popping up next to the train on the Loch Ness trestle?

Yes I do. We rode the train when it was dark and then again before it got dark. We have the skeletons popping up on both rides.

I suspect that the tape I digitized might have had multiple years on it based on some of the earlier posts in this thread that show scare search not around the first year.  I will have to see if I can locate the original tapes to determine what years are on the tape.

ETA: I watched clips 2 and 3 for the train ride again and noticed that they were different. Plus I heard myself say that , "Last Year, we were on the right side". This led me to believe that the fiends show and the first dark train ride was from 1999. The rest appears to be from 2000. Hope it is still entertaining.

Interesting Fact about the train: The spiders that were at the Highland Station were moved to the small field next to Pompeii where they would eat the mummies. With noises and lights this was pretty much scarred into my memory due to my fear of spiders. I think this happened the first year of Jacks Nightmare Express.

Haven't watched the various train rides yet. But I'm glad you have the Sleepy Hollow version. That was my favorite. because it didn't scare me.

However, Fiends in the Festhaus, omg No matter how many times I watch the original Fiends, I always forget how cheesy it was. and How much audience interaction there was. I loved that show.

The problem with Sleepy Hollow was it required to many staged events and there was a lot of blank un-themed spaces compared to Transylvania Express or Jacks Nightmare Express. I could see Sleepy Hollow return though because for one, it didn't take up that many props. For two it really didn't take that many actors.  I still find the fact that they talk about the story is amazing. This truly was one of the greatest HOS attractions out there.

I saw plenty of unthemed spaces for the other versions of the train ride, and everything was staged on the others versions as well. The other versions of the ride were staged as well. They all had their positions to try and work. The only difference is, is Sleepy Hollow told a story, while the other versions tried to be scary, and failed. (In retrospect.)

I think the problem in general is trying to put a themed attraction as large as the train ride, is really not a feasible thing to do, unless actors are gonna start jumping on to the train to scare people. Which will never, ever happen because of safety reasons.

I liked the fact it told a story, it was very interesting and spooky, while not all together scary. I think a train ride can still be done like this. On less busier days they could operate 2 trains. Then on busy days they could slow the train's speed down just a bit so the duration is a little over 15 mins, giving them the ability to run 3 trains at once, with about 5 mins for the train to un-load and load at Caribou station. Running 3 trains will make a line go a lot faster, especially at the capacity these things have.

Referring back to the sleepy hollow train. Wasnt this around the time Tim Burtons SLeepy Hollow came out? I also love how they used the soundtrack for the film. It is still used in heatherdowns to this day.
