To be honest, the park has a serious storm water issue. I swear half the park floods whenever it rains.

One time I got stuck in a terrential downpour and England was a giant puddle luckily I was wearing flip flops, and a poncho so I dried off well. Everything in the back of the park except for some parts of Oktoberfest drains pretty well, and heatherdowns is the only area in the front of the park that drains pretty well.

Heatherdowns is at a high point in the front of the park so all the water drains down into England, Ireland, and down to Loch Ness. Oktoberfest is also at a high point.

England sucks at drainage because it is at a low point in the park.

From what I've studied on Google Earth and the article it seems as though they are going to take out the trees that are in between the parking lot, and The road on the other side of the trees, and put them there. However they did say there would be room between the lot and the road, about 45 feet of shrubbery! But if next years attendance numbers are anything like this years then that grass in that lot will be a foot tall before they are able to park people in there. I don't know what they were thinking putting in aggregate that is able to grow grass. And I doubt psychedelic London will bring in any people, if anything they're going to loose attendance numbers next year. If they do re-do the main lots they better not put in aggregate that can grow grass because now Scotland and Bavaria are going to be nothing but weed paradise. Luckily I don't have to park in General parking so I'll barely get to experience that mess. Also, why are they adding 500 more spaces but not adding another tram stop? That tram station always has a 15 minute line as is.

Well, I think that the aggregate that grows grass is not terrible. I am sure that they will probably mow it if it needs to be mowed. It will also show that they are geared towards the environment and the Gardens in Busch Gardens.

When people drive up into the parking lot they are going to know exactly where they are at!

^This.

Or just extending the tram to go a bit farther in the Scotland/Bavaria lots. I've parked in Bavaria, and that walk back to the car from the tram seems like it takes forever. (Especially if you're at the opposite ends of the lot.)

Just to put this out there, there was a tram stop in the Bavaria parking lot, the road still exists; however, I think it comes down to saving gas. It is much more cost efficient to have one tram stop for both lots.

What would probably be a great idea would be to just tear up both lots and renovate them both and place one tram stop in between both lots, therefore you can access the tram from both lots with one stop, save money and such.

Here is what I'd like to see from this renovation, slightly enlarged bavaria lot, with a tram stop in between both lots for easy access from both lots. A lot of the same roadways and spaces are reused, just renovated and redone. Dark green being shrubbery, tan being parking space and roadway, grey being tram path and stop.

I think this is a great idea! Been lurking the BGW forum for a while (I'm from Florida and go to BGT.) and adding more parking just makes me want to visit even more! Even though you critics hate retheming and spending, this seems like a logical investment, *hint hint wink* Zachary (negative person 0_0). So yea, I'll keep lurking and listening to more interesting news! :D

The only plausible explanations here would seem to be:
1. Expand parking so that only actual, in-park, fire-code mandated capacity drives when they turn people away and not due to lack of parking (unsure if this actually happens, but if I were them I would hate to be sitting at 30K in the park and a bunch of additional people lined up with nowhere to park).
2. Stormwater regs - see above
3. Expand capacity so that they can close down the England parking lot for expansion purposes (coaster land, new country, etc.) Seems very unlikely to me but you never know. Or perhaps they want to expand into the employee lot and would turn the England lot into employee parking.

I am a realist, so I am guessing #3 is out, but it would fun to imagine...

hmm, never thought about that. If they wanted to expand or put in a coaster, they could expand the other parking lots and expand the park into the england parking lot. Interesting idea.

Oh man... don't tell chickenking that! :p

What would really alleviate traffic concerns and fluidity between Scotland lot and Busch gardens is a tram and pedestrian flyover rt 60. That would really help with country expansion in to the England lot.

This comes down to the great capacity debacle, what constitutes as park capacity? 36K people through the turnstiles or all the parking lots filled?

When I worked there a few years back the most we ever had in the park at any given time was in the very low 30's, however the total attendance for that day was in the upper 30's. The park capacity is based all on the parking lots. Once the lots are full they stop letting people in. If several thousand leave early, that leaves room for several thousand to come in later which will increase the total attendance for the day. I never in my years there heard of 36k in at once. That is a total attendance number I rarely heard them reach.

From sources that deal with these things, within the past 10 years, I am not sure of the exact points in time; however, the park itself does have a set capacity number by the fire marshall that the park is supposed to follow. With that said, the park does control capacity by parking lots, which in an ideal test environment could work, but it does not really work out that way. That is because there are just over 7,000 parking spaces, depending on how many are in each car or bus even, would determine their capacity.

The highest amount of guests in the park at one time has been 38K people. Like I said, the park does have a fire marshal capacity limit of near 35K; however, they determine capacity by cars unfortunately. So the actual capacity number fluctuates depending on the amount of cars parked, which can in theory allow much more than the fire marshal limit.

But in regards to parking lot care, I personally think they should repave and repaint a few parking lots. We all know Bavaria and Scotland are the worst lot out there, thankfully and hopefully, they will be getting some love during this parking lot renovation.

Unfortunately I can't seem them getting more parking for TMs. There really is no place for them to expand their parking and if they expand it, they may need their own tram just to get in and out of the parking lot themselves.

Although their lot needs some real love, it is a whole lot worse than Scotland and Bavaria lots. It needs to be leveled actually.
