From what I've pieced together from others is the night July 8th the ride broke down with the train in the station and in a morning test run before the park opens, the silver train was trapped near the crest of the lift hill. Then a week or so later the park pulled the train off of the lift and back onto the final brakes.

During my visit on July 23rd I could see parts of the lift motor housing disassembled and laying out on the ground.

I haven't officially heard what part broke, but Screamscape is saying that a gear box broke. But it's safe to say the part has to be custom made.

I posted an article (which is extremely late) on the blog which can be found here. It has pictures for those who like to see pictures instead of reading.

If you could, can you let me know where the silver train is at? And if there is anything going on near the lift motor.

There's some rumors going on stating the ride can open at the end of August and i've only heard it once, but another person has said it could be closed for the rest of the year. But take that with a huge grain of salt.

Yes, I'll try to get some updates when I go. I hope the update is "It's open!" And I'll TRY to take some pics :p

I was there today , the silver train was like 20 feet from the ride , every roller coaster I road I kept looking to see if I could see some activity on it , only seen trucks riding in and out Around the ride. Kind of blows because that was one of the main reasons we planned the trip to KD. Really wanted to ride i305 to see all the hype of the " blackouts " and all.. Hopefully next time it will be open, I don't understand how the backlot stunt coaster was compensation for i305 lol. Awesome park .. Still enjoyed myself.
Edit: backlot was closed at the beginning of the day as well as the hurler , dominator , crypt , and dodgem. .. Dominator was originally open but had issues , closed for about an hour and ran the rest of The day fine. ... I will be back ASAP when i305 is up and running.. Had goosebumps just looking at it as I walked by to ride outer limits or whatever it's called now lol.

going on Thursday to see if any new updates

Yeah the crypt was closed yesterday. A repair man was fixing something on the seafood side of it. He was making minor repairs. It seems they weren't working on I 305 yesterday

Volcano is still a giant pile of crap by the way. 30 minutes into park opening it had a 45 minute line and everything else was a total walk on.

On a relative note the park feels a lot smaller with i305 out of commission.
