Sadly, it might come to that. End of August is looking out of question right now. Even when they get the motor put back together, they're going to have to do a series of tests to warm the parts up. It's not ideal to start the motor with yanking a couple thousand pound train up a 45 degree lift around 15-20mph right as soon as it is fixed.

I still say it will open for Haunt. It's one of their main attractions and maybe Cedar Fair will bring in some people to get it done. Think about it,the weather hasn't been the best recently and KD doesn't want to work throughout the week it seems. Whenever I go, it just looks dead which effects the other rides wait time. I now say I enjoy the Back lot Stunt Coaster

They are waiting on a custom made part from Intamin. Custom making parts is not an easy or fast process. I'm not to knowledgable on the process, but from what I understand it take s long time to make a custom piece.

The park is stripping down the motor so that when they do get the part they can put it in right away and then reassemble it and get to testing.

So the state that the park has the lift hill motor in; is the state for easy appliance of the new part.

Hey guys, I just joined! I will be in on the I305 conversation now, if you do not mind. My first question is if there is any clue as to a reopening date?

It's likely because the engine was made specifically for the ride with parts tuned for i305's weight, height, lift speed, and other conditions. Sure there are a lot of cable lift coasters built by Intamin, but it's unlikely they're the same unless they're direct clones of each other (Mega-lites come to mind). The only parts that are really justified to be made in bulk are train parts like wheels, harnesses, and sensors.

It sucks because I wanted to go next month but now everyone is saying that it will not be open until 2014. Is that true, or just a possibility?

I know it is a custom part, I just do not see how it can take 4 months to build and get it here. Enlighten me on the part or whatever.

No, I give it until Intamin starts making quality rides. Intimidator will never be open!

So, since the ride is down, have they stopped playing the redneck version of the Top Gear theme? I guess that is the American Top Gear music?

Lance from Screamscape posted a rumor that the gearbox went out a while back. I don't know if that's true, but that's is just what he has said.

So far he is the only one of (from what I know) that's stated a specific part. But like I said earlier, I'm not sure about the actual process of making a new piece.

I will take a guess that they will have to pull the old designs out and rebuild a mold, pour new steel (or whatever it's called when it's in liquid form) and then it need to set for a long time just to make sure it doesn't crack or anything. Then it will ship. Remember that this motor doesn't have an easy start. The lift cable literally is yanking on the train which can put more ware and tear on the motor and the cable. Again I will say, i'm guessing.

But so far, from my guesses, I'm going to guess it's not opening in August nor September. It can reopen towards the end of September if we're lucky or October. If it's not either of those dates, then i'm sure the park will just take the trains off the track and start the winter rehab a little earlier than usual.

I wore my I305 shirt yesterday when I went, and a lot of the employees said "man, that sucks its closed. I heard its not opening until October" I had about 4 employees say that. I know they don't know anymore than we do, I just thought I'd share that

Some employees do, some don't. Like we always say "Take it with a grain of salt," but thanks for the update.

I think the most trusted employee would be is one of the I305 Ride Operators. I'm sure they have been told something as it is there ride to operate and when they should expect to be operating it.

I have to say, Dale looked a little sad operating Volcano on my last visit.

I wonder if Hansen Industrial Technologies still makes the gearboxes for Intamin coasters. I haven't heard of Intamin fabricate them in-house as most companies usually contract another business to make them.

Regardless, as you said, these things take a while to make so it could very well be a while longer until we see I-305 re-open.
