No one's intimidated anymore, everyone rides it, from little kids to old ladies and the woman who told me she won't ride a drop tower because a famous accident was local to her (best I can recall she complained about Fury but loved 305).

No rides on it today though, at least twice stopped on lift during testing.

That actually nit true I know many people that are afraid of riding it because of what people have told them. Obviously a retheme and new paint job won't change its ride character but it might give people a different view of it if they don't overly pay attention to it like enthusiasts do.

I am terrified that it might go down for a few months while they repair/replace the cable for the lift hill. This might be irrational but I absolutely love this coaster so so much and I don't want to be kept away from it for months. Can anyone relieve my fears or confirm them?

Kinda doubt that is the issue as the cable would have been insecpted and replaced if need be before opening day. Now if it's the gearbox God help us it will be a long summer

There are also people that are afraid of the scrambler and many other rides. I think people are constantly misinterpreting i305's massive capacity for a general dislike of the ride which is the same exact problem that Magnum gets. Just because you don't have to wait in line doesn't mean the ride isn't popular. Certainly there are people that are afraid to ride it but the people that make it sound like it was a failure because the majority of people refuse to ride it is extremely misled..... The number of people that stood in line for 30min or an hour yesterday just waiting for it to open is a pretty good indicator.
I saw trains cycle multiple times today so whatever kept it down doesn't seem to be some big failure.
Something kept throwing a fault and causing it to stop on the lift hill is what I overheard.... Apparently they weren't able to figure out what that something was, I guess.

I waited 90 minutes in line for it on Saturday, broke down twice, and was two trains away from boarding when they shut it down. I'm an Intamin fanboy if you're wondering. But KD is my home park and I've ridden it before so it's not too big of a deal, since I can ride next week if I want to. They seemed to have trouble with getting the cable to come back down to hook onto the train again after the original train disconnected from it.
