Go figure.... the "confirmed" addition of a hotel at Busch was just proven to be no more than a rumor. Finally.

It confirms that the request to add a resort hotel was made by Xanterra, who subsequently pulled their permit request, just as we've heard happened because the resort became a joint venture between them and the park. Confirmed the timeline of events that has already been reported essentially.

Now there is a 12 but I understand now. Back to topic, a resort is coming and the park is announcing it this September right before howloscream.

Yea, must have been some weird software glitch.

I watched the video and honestly I can't tell what the heck the outcome of that video was. It sounds like Xanterra and Kingsmill want to rent out cottages. That's the only thing I could take away. Also the council does not want anyone to live there permanently. (Is Williamsburg a no-apartment county or something?)

It's JCC and there are definitely apartments. This was essentially to amend the definition of hotel to include "resort hotel" which is composed of separate structures (instead of just one big building). It was a procedural change that had to be made, but Xanterra needed it done to move forward with their plans. The county planners were going to make the change eventually but went ahead and did it now even though Xanterra pulled their permit request.

I know I've said this before, but I never got a reply. Has this been confirmed?

No, I don't think the county wants it a "no-apartment county". All they want is a defined rule to the code so no one can take advantage of it. Hotels or Motels are designed for sort term rentals, but the county doesn't have a problem to allow someone from the same family to rent out the same room or cottage, since it's a different person (different last name) in the same family paying the bill. But they didn't want this to be abused by anyone who rents out the space and county attorney agrees with the Wilford Kale (county board member) that this can be abused, that's why the county attorney will look in too the section "D" of the code to see if they're any problems with it and what changes can be if any.

I agree with Wilford Kale point that if you had the same family renting out a cottage and you multiply this by the number of cottages that Xanterra and Kingsmill wants to build, it can be a problem. One, no one else would be able to rent out a cottage, and two it wouldn't be considered be a hotel, and three it would unfair for someone else who wants to rent out cottage for a week, and be bad business practice for Xanterra and Kingsmill to do so.

I also don't think that Xanterra and Kingsmill will step away from this totally and see something different from what they planned from the beginning.

Ha ha, take out the parking lots and it fits pretty well there. I don't think they would put a resort at that location, but it gives perspective.

Hi, the actual location to where the resort is going was posted in this thread. It's going right behind the Festhaus on the other side of the railroad tracks with it's own station and entrance. Nice picture and use of space, though! Just I don't think Carter will like that sort of attention for the animal range (he wants a hamlet).
