Has anyone noticed the changes to the Festhaus show lately? I saw it this weekend and it is becoming super cheesy with the banter and pretzel sales pitch.

Yeah, I noticed. We went earlier in the season and the show was almost like it was originally. It even had the recording made by the Burgermeister about the history of Oktoberfest. Went a few weeks ago and not impressed at all with the new format.

Went yesterday and didn't see the show inside the Festhaus, but the new Maypole show was pretty cool. Mach Tower is tall. The Autobahn signs weren't that bad. The pretzel place is nice. I could eat those pretzel dogs all day. I really liked the sausage pretzel dog. I also noticed in Festhaus Kafe they have beer sampler platters, which is pretty nice and includes lots of microbrews. And that hole back there in Festhaus Park is huge! Also the sausage pretzel dog is awesome.

Just wanted to revive this thread to say that the Oktoberfest changes have gradually won me over! I was too critical in previous posts about it. I still feel some of the decor has a "pasted-on" feel to it, but Mach Tower itself I think is quite attractive and I think looks better than the concept art for it did -- I like the heraldic-looking designs and all the red contrasts nicely with the Bavarian light blue. And the pretzels at the pretzel/beer garden are fantastic!

I do still worry about traffic bottlenecking there, especially now that MT is (finally) opening, but overall good job on revitalizing Oktoberfest -- now for the new coaster!

Bottlenecking is an understatement, the path is going to be really tight until they take the Verbolten wall down next season.

I liked the Pretzel shop very much, but the placement of the building, it's entrance/exit, and the seating area with the little stage is all wrong. Nobody seems to know there are seats in back of the building. They are completely out of sight from where you get your food. Hardly anyone was using them. The poor oompah band on that little stage did a fine job, but there barely got an audience each time because nobody was eating there, although the shop was busy. The other little stage across from the old BBW station gets a bigger audience from passers by, but it's placed in a narrow crowded area without seating to eat and enjoy the show.

Basically, the placement of the stages, building, and dining areas are poorly designed. The Pretzel shop's exit should transport customers into the dining area through the rear of the building, and all would be good.

Thanks for posting it. It does address some of the concerns that people were expressing in this thread about not being directed to the beer garden seating.

I like the new Oktoberfest. I imagine it will be great when the 2012 coaster opens. I am however perturbed by the placement of some of those games. I like the games over in the game section, not in every single open space. That's a little too close to six flags-style for me.
