The official statement from Ocean Breeze is incredible.

I don’t know what the Virginia Department of Health is thinking, but this is NOT OK. The published VA Phase III guidelines CLEARLY allow water parks to reopen with a 1k attendance cap. Arbitrarily disallowing Ocean Breeze to operate the vast majority of their park within those guidelines 24 hours before their reopening is a massive, massive load of bullshit. This needs to be reversed immediately and I hope Ocean Breeze will pursue all means available to them to get this overturned.

Sorry for double posting but I just had another thought. I was hype because the 1000 person cap means less stress for me yanno? But without slides that means everyone’s gonna be shoved into just a few areas?? Which seems incredibly dangerous. And without slides that means we have less spots open which means they won’t need as many guards, which means scheduling is going to suck.

Are you usually a guard at the same slides, or do you get to rotate around to any position?

I'm assuming all guards are certified to work the whole park, but was more curious if guards are generally given a primary section for their rotations - a slide guard may not regularly cover wave pool, etc?

Ocean Breeze in my opinion did a fantastic job with opening and sanitation procedures. They sanitized each raft after each use for the Adventure River and Jungle Falls. They had the wave pool roped off except for a small opening where an employee was counting incoming and outgoing people for capacity purposes. Seating was in pods of 4 and were spaced out 6-10 feet apart. They also had a cleaning crew constantly cleaning tables and surfaces and hand sanitizer was all over the place. They did take the rolling log out of the pool so it is now just a pool. Overall we still had a great time even though the slides were closed. Season Pass holders even received 10 dollars to use for food or merchandise.

That's a bummer. Still gonna be an awesome addition to Ocean Breeze to check out down the road. I have not been there since like middle school when I rode the hurricane toilet bowl and it was absolutely insane. I also like how they have a tube chute like attraction. Living in Richmond though it's tough to imagine going to VB just for Ocean Breeze.

I've done it - kinda hard to go there when the beach is free if you know where to go/have a friend's house to park at.

I typically just park at the Rudee lot since I am not too familiar with VB despite my proximity. I realized a 105 minute drive is absolutely worth it for beach time if I need it.

I live in VB and if I’m being honest I absolutely hate the tourist season (aka summer) at the OceanFront. To many people who are lost and who drive slow.

Until not too long ago it was either North End, Croatan, or Little Island/Sandbridge (yeah, it's kind of a hike to get to comparatively), but now it seems the wife is all about using Seashore St Park's public beach access.
