It was announced today that six flags has bought ocean breeze waterpark. With this deal will come multi million dollar expansion to the park. Details havd not yet been released. I personally am hoping they scrap motor world which is part of ocean breeze and expand the park into that area.

RE: Ocean Breeze buyout

Actually, the park wasn't bought by Six Flags, it was bought by two former Six Flags executives. News here.

It's an interesting turn of events for sure. Maybe we'll actually get some good water rides in the Hampton Roads area now...

RE: Ocean Breeze Buyout

So, If it's only two former Six Flags executives and not the actual company then is the park safe from being themed after superhero and popular children's cartoons?

Six flags doesnt do childrens cartoons and such anymore... they do still have the DC superhero thing going on though, which Im not quite sure is a bad thing...

I distinctly remember a Thomas the Tank area of the park my last visit to SFA.

I believe they still have licensing for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows, and I find the whole DC superhero thing to be very stale. It's everywhere in Six Flags parks and I just find it uncreative.

Well I dont know if i ever told you guys this but my friends grandfather owned Ocean Breeze and Motor World, He sold the land to other people but my friend still says that he owns motorworld, and just to correct you guys MotorWorld is NOT owned by Ocean Breeze.

I live 5 min. from the HRBT, so this could be an option for me. Glad to see it get some attention.

It was there, but this year they dropped thos licensing due to "cost cutting" so it will just be a train themed area.

And ArrowWolf1984 they do not have licensing with Cartoon Network, it is with Warner Bros. They also have Hana-Barbara, and DC Comics. Alot of there characters are on Cartoon Network tho.

Yeah cartoonnetwork has the same deal, they have to buy episodes and rights from Warner Bros. and Hana Barbara.

I must have a few of the companies mixed up. Also I want to correct myself saying that they have licensing with Nickelodeon, I think that's Cedar not Six Flags.

From Behind the Thrills:
During a press conference today, Ocean Breeze Waterpark announced details of a 2011 multi-million dollar face lift and expansion for the park. They will be giving the entire park a face lift to incorporate Caribbean theming, as well as adding a brand new slide complex, Neptune’s Revenge, and expanding their children’s section, Hook’s Lagoon, of the waterpark. This is slated to be completed by park opening on May 27th.

Honestly, in my opinion, Ocean Breeze just topped Water Country's 2011 plans. I'll probably be making a trip over to the south-side sometime this year to check them out. The ball is back in your court SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.

This was in the Virginian Pilot yesterday morning. Same information as above, but just added pictures and a few details. I've never been in my life(which is sad because I've lived twenty minutes from it for seventeen years), but I'M ALL ABOUT IT, for the main reason that this is the first smack in the face to WCUSA in probably decades. Until now, competition was not really a problem. Now, quite frankly, they have a better theme, more updated rides, and cheaper prices. And not to be Debbie Downer, but Vantage Point is simply Jammin' Jukebox, just with a new way of dropping into the slide, nothing original. Also, the title and theming has nothing to do with the 50's and 60's. In other words, I cannot wait to see how WCUSA fights back, because right now, WCUSA is starting to drown in their own deep end, and I don't think they saw this coming since all of this just occurred less than three months ago.

Has anyone been by Ocean Breeze lately to see what's going on or if there's anything to be seen? From what I hear, we don't even know where these slides are going.
