Yes well, tour de force in that meaning could refer to the fireworks being very powerful and at some points shoot up like a tower. Especially towards the finale, the fireworks went up so many all at one time it was like watching two towers of white light and all this bursting around the tops of them. I think the name does make sense if you think about it some what.

I assume they used tour de force because not only does the meaning fit if you think about it, but the name also has that powerful connection, like hearing something named tour de force just sounds like it will be an amazing spectacle.

For what it is worth, the site currently only lists fireworks on 4 and 5 July, and there is no mention of a summer event (besides the F&WF and the concert series). I'm not saying it isn't going to happen, just that it hasn't been listed on the website yet. I wonder if they are too focused on the FoF and LotD events to pursue an Illuminights replacement?

Edit: I believe they were using standard definition of "tour de force," not a literal French translation:

"a very skillful and successful effort or performance"
"a feat or display of strength, skill, or ingenuity"

(Both from Merriam-Webster)

What I fear is if we are actually only two months out and no real plan and about .2 dollars are accounted for that we may get a stripped down IllumiNights, even more so than last year. Haven't they "scrapped" things before and brought them back as filler with little to no time?

One silver lining is,maybe now they can save money and put it towards the events the GP and the locals love(I.e. HoS,CT,F&W).After all with the rumored 2 new mazes,it would seem smart to save money, doing only a few fireworks shows, and not wasting money and manpower on stupid glittery BS.And if it is called americana, and its a decent fireworks show and the beautiful park we love, maybe the name will just be a name, and we can overlook it and be glad we dont have disco turtles for a summertime downer...

They're not trying to save money for minor improvements of other events, their money as a whole for ent is restricted because they already are given such a limited amount to fund for the entire season.

Well, just remember that money inside a business can always be shifted around. Not just for minor events but for things such as marketing, food, construction, etc.Wouldnt you rather have more money to go to new stuff to prevent cruddy looking decor and hamlet ruining additions?Especially if it means no more summertime events, besides fireworks?Thats what id do,take what doesnt work and use the wasted money elsewhere, from a new ride in festa,to a new HoS maze,to a remodeled bathroom in New France,to a refurb in banbury cross, and to a new bridge and dining deck. And,when I discover things dont work,id save money until I can do something that will work.

Is Americana confirmed to be coming, or is it just the Fireworks' name during the July 4th period? You think they would've announced it by now.

They claim in the "Facts About Busch Gardens" section on their website that The F&WF is their summer event.

"..The Food and Wine Festival takes place in the summer.."

I like that too. I also think that banner looks good and really like the 99 days of summer fun emblem.

I hope the park does nothing for summer this year. I don't want to worry like in past years, about what's the next tacky attraction they are going to put up for Illuminights. I'd just like to sit back, relax and enjoy a normal non-dramatic summer, and enjoy the park as it was truly meant to be, un-like in 2013, where I didn't even want to visit the park.

I have to disagree. The park by itself can be kind of boring. I like to think of myself as halfway between superfan and gp and the GP part of me gets pretty bored sometimes. The park needs events to make up for its lack of rides and shows. I would love to see them extend the food and wine festival to last the entire summer and add fireworks at night.

^ Or you can hire nighttime entertainment based on traditional carnivals of the respected countries, plus new beautiful and atmospheric lighting. Not harsh colors, but glows of colorful, but not tacky lights. Faint blues in France, Greens in Ireland and the ravine and bridge. Light orange/fire-like flickers as if torchlight in Italy.Carnival/Circus-esque lighting in Festa, etc., etc.

^ I like your idea Jacques. Some soft lighting can go a long way. And I like the country specific colors. This along with a slight change in park music for evening/night could really set a different mood without completely changing things around. Subtle changes like this is what the park needs as opposed to props and bright colors.

I can't believe that this event is supposed to be happening... In less than two months... And there's absolutely no public information released about it.

All special events and the Fireworks on the Rhine exclusive are still only listing July 3rd, 4th and 5th as the nights with fireworks. Could this perhaps just be subtle decorations that honor America, and the Fireworks are named Americana as PR said earlier? For the record around every American holiday they have always replaced the flags on the trains with American flags to honor the holiday.
