They actually started taking photos mid-day on Saturday (I had to run out to the car after the presentation).

An interesting thing happened to me, however. I was put on a bypass last year, because my fingerprints never worked at all. Apparently, the bypass automatically carried over to the new photo system. So, if I want them to use my picture, rather than flashing my ID each time, I have to go to Guest Services to get it changed.

Great, my husband will need to go to Guest Services. About half the people I go with have problems with the fingerprints not working. Considering some of them use fingerprint id for their jobs, and we had zero problems using Disney's when we visited, BG has an inferior system. I'd rather go back to the old photo cards. Or maybe they could just drop the whole thing. I really don't get that there was that much abuse of passes going on. I find it silly.

My Apple Wallet pass scans just perfectly. Maybe it could be just single days and not passes?

Good point, Gavin. When I scan coupons at certain stores from my phone, I have to remember to turn up the brightness on my phone.

Just got back from Seaworld down in Florida and they still have the fingerprint scanners as well. The FP scanner always worked with me but never for my kids. I'm happy they are going this route because I always felt that the lines take forever at the entrance due to fingerprints not working. There has been a few times waiting in line where teenagers in front of me were using their friends season pass and the only thing they do when the fingerprint doesn't work is ask what your name is.

In regards to my face being stored on a theme parks database, I really don't care. My DL photo is on a database, my work id photo is on a database, my facebook photos is out there on the web, every time I walk into a store, my face is stored on their security system hard drive. I guess now I'll have to wait for people to pull out their photo ids from their fanny pack.

The bigger point I was originally making is we don't know if they're just taking a picture, or if they're storing your face (and facial telemetry) in a computer so that the COMPUTER can automatically identify who you are. If I get stopped by a cop, he doesn't 'scan my face' with a handheld machine to see if the computer knows that I'm the guy on my DL. HOWEVER: if I put my pic on Facebook and tag myself? NOW you will notice that Facebook 'knows it's you' and will suggest tags in future pics (depending on how you have your FB privacy set up). Major difference between the two. Pictures that PEOPLE will look at to identify me is ok by me. Pictures that COMPUTERS will look at (using an algorithm) to identify me without human assistance? Not ok. Call me a bit paranoid, but we all feel 'secure' or 'insecure' about certain things in this tech world. Everyone has a different idea of how much 'too much' really is. Clarified ;)

Hello! Have you met PK?

Edit: I'm just joshin' you. I totally understand what you mean and I avoid FB for the same reasons.

When scanning anything on your phone, you should make sure that the screen is clean and have the brightness turned all the way up. Otherwise it will not get a good scan.

Granted, you can change it after the fact, but brightness all the way on kills your phone battery.

When they did it with us it was real quick. They scan your pass then they aim the gun thing up at your face, click and it's done. All part of the entry process, it's not a separate wait line or anything like that.
