RE: New Das Festhaus Show for 2015
Since I'm trying to be a little positive and optimistic for this show instead of being Debbie downer like I've always been told in these situations in the past, I'm going to break it down straight and simple.
What I see hope for:
1) Reading just what they need for casting and not descriptions, I see something promising. This is the exact set up in terms of casting they had for TIO. Two of the singers are non-dancing, if anybody remembers correctly, back in the rising stage days there used to be two designated singers, when the others would be dancing, they would wander off to a backstage area, or talk to guests until there was another vocal performance coming up. All along with the usual two singers that can dance, dancers, and the band.
2) After reading the description of the actors I suddenly find it hard to write #2, but as Applesauce has said, the content of the show doesn't seem promising at all, but there is a chance, and since there doesn't even seem to be a name finalized that they could change plans to make it more promising. Do I personally think it's going to happen? Not really, but it may.
3) One more little thing. Since most of the performers descriptions seemed weird and bizarre, perhaps we looked over the promising parts. They suggest that the musicians need "Marching Band Experience" which proposes the same opening that TIO used to have. Also, the dancing description for the singers is "partnering" which again proposes a TIO structure dance wise.
4) Oh, one final thing, having read the audition-calls thoroughly in the past(specifically for new shows), some of the description, especially the special talents section, are never actually used in the show. Could we see this happen here perhaps?
Things I find worrying:
1) No Tuba, terrifying. Fix it.
2) I don't see a real need for the accordion at all. The only reason it seems to be in there is because it's a stereotypical German musical instrument.
3) As pointed out before, some of the cast descriptions are terrifying. Why do the male dancers need to bring jazz shoes to the auditions? Why do Singers #1 need a German accent? Why on earth are silly circus-like talents recommended? Nothing of this sounds promising.
4) The fact Zachary is saying he's heard it is a replacement for Entwined, meaning it will be similar to Entiwned, is not at all good. If they have surrendered trying to make Entwined work, why would you even suggest to make something similar to it?
5) If truly this turns out to be similar to Wunderbarn, I think I might just die. In my opinion, Wunderbarn was one of the most embarrassing, and truly sickening shows the park has ever made. And in my honest opinion it was far worse than Entwined. Between unnecessary fart jokes, offensive German stereotypes, childish costumes, and a chicken dance that took up probably half the show, it was truly unbearable. So as far as Wunderbarn and this show goes: do not want.
Okay, all done.
