Maybe they are for the Busch Gardens bowling league?

I miss the good ole days with green nickers and calf high black tube socks. This is a far cry from authentic looking outfits for each country.

Then again, They re-themed Oktoberfest from looking like Bavarian Germany to an amusement park trying to look like Bavarian Germany so I guess there's a pattern... and maybe other countries will be getting the same treatment.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Um, so here goes.

I’m praying that Dippin’ Dots Guy got transferred to tram driving, cause those uniforms would look sweet (not that a bunch of seniors driving a tram need to look sexy, but it would jazz the commute up). Sadly, I fear that he wasn’t transferred. And quite frankly I just don’t get it. If I see a staffer wearing this in Germany I will subsequently rip my shirt off and search for the closest water slide, cause I will be at WCUSA, and not in a Bavarian themed hamlet. Now granted the current Oktoberfest uniforms make the staff look like a bunch of Dutch TSA Officers, they’re still a far-cry from the UNC Spirit Wear that is about to be integrated into the hamlet. On top of that, the new park-wide nametags are going to stick out on those new golf shirts. They’re red, and they’re going on a blue and white shirt. Are the ride ops supposed to address us in French as we board the Dutch waveswinger?

Now I am being VERY nit-picky, and granted I’m a seventeen year old guy with no fashion sense whatsoever, but I’m also details-oriented.

All this aside, none of this will really phase me when I see it. The thing it does do to me, however, is it scares me. In my heart of hearts, I cannot believe that these uniforms came from within that park, for one reason: Der Marktplatz. Walk around the store the next time you’re in Oktoberfest and scan over the 2011 merchandise, especially the clothing. It’s refined looking, it’s classy, and the majority of it DOESN’T look like it came from within a theme park. Something is off. I’ve just got this feeling that these didn’t come from the design department, but from the new seamstress that is Blackstone. With that being said, Potterworld comes to mind, and all of IoA, for that matter. Their costumes are perfect for their specific areas. These are just going to look severely out of place.

My last final beef with this is I fear for the ride-oriented costumes; DarKastle’s comes to mind, Celtic Fyre’s. Will they be affected?

Obviously I’m a details kinda guy. When you guys are scouring over these 2012 blueprints for ride elements and thrill factors, I’m the guy in the corner reading over the theming aspects. But that’s just me.

Skyrider just stated everything I've been thinking but didn't have time to write. I couldn't possibly agree more.

Thank God, I was so nervous writing that. I was preparing for the barrage of "You don't know fashion." I'm definitely no Heidi Klum or Lady GaGa, but few details get past me.

I wouldn't go that far, but I would say that the side effects of our new prescription are starting to materialize.

I still love BGW but losing the Wolf, the original Oktoberfest, AB, and a bunch of other things; I feel that the BGW that I originally came to know and love is gone.

I feel the same way. It definitely seems to be turning into an amusement park...and I hate amusement parks.

Seeing that an amusement park has no overall theme and a theme park has one, BGW is still a theme park

Examples:
Theme parks: Busch Gardens (Tampa and Williamsburg), Disney Parks, Seaworld, Legoland
Amusement Parks: All Cedar Fair Parks (That's a lot of parks), Six Flags Parks (That's even more parks)

Buddy, I'm not stupid. I know what an amusement park is vs. a theme park. That was the point. Disney is a theme park. BGW USED to be a theme park for definite. Now? Bowling shirts? "Themed" drop tower? Sesame Street?

European theme?

Yes, I am aware that there is a European theme at Busch Gardens. There used to be a "movie" theme at King's Dominion too, though, and I wouldn't have ever called that a theme park. Look, BGW has a long way to fall before they end up like King's Dominion, sure. But the point about BG is that while the European theme is built in, the actions taken at the park in recent years have not been up to the standard I feel the park used to have, especially with regard to theming consistency. If you feel like taking all of the Irish shows out of Ireland, putting a Sesame Street show into the Globe in England, dropping the French Circus from France, and now introducing modern bowling shirts into the classic-European setting is a step in the right direction, then good for you -- you've got a lot to look forward to in the park's future.

Granted, sesame street is not the most European, but BG did TRY to give it a European feel (the real reason why I think BG made the sesame street area was to satisfy people who said that LOD was not enough kiddie rides and that we need to be more Kidsiderate). And about KD, They never had a movie theme, just a couple of rides based on movies that now can never be called that because CF bought them (Tomb Raider, Italian Job Turbo Coaster)... But I do agree with you that BGW is going down the wrong path and unless the do something AWESOME with the new coaster, we might start snowballing severely

Well KD used to be Paramount's KD. Like a cheap Universal Studios really.

And BGW is still pretty good as a theme park. But there just seems to be conflicting actions taken. I like how Illuminights showcases cool little stories and stuff from the countries. Celtic Fyre has a nice Irish pub, singing and dancing. San marco is still San Marco. Italy is nice, but no too sure about the new show (haven't seen it yet). The retheming of Oktoberfest in the end is going to be nice and still themed towards Oktoberfest (colors, beer, pretzels, drop towers-err...) New France and France are still nice. (Griffon could use better theming, but it is what it is). Pirates are back in the Globe. I also very much enjoy the little musical groups that show up in each of the countries, great theming touch there in my opinion.

Then they do stuff that seems out of place. Easter bunny, Sesame Street (I get this one though, for the family, and at least there's a castle and some other elements taken from the theming of the park). Drop tower with minimal theming. The new shirts. Some music changes. Letting Dark Kastle and RPT go down the drain. And last but certainly not least Europe in the Air.

It just seems like for every new good thing they throw in a bust as well. Also, I think the park is definitively away from "The Olde Country." I don't know if that's a bad thing, but I still enjoy this "European" themed park.

The theming concepts of the new coaster is definitely raising expectations greatly. But I believe BGW is gradually trying to change their theme, I'm seeing signs of them change from being themed after "The Old Country" to a more "modern Europe".

I don't really believe that BG was ever completely themed to olde world Europe: if you think about Nessie's queue line, it has submarines and radios which weren't in use until the 1800's (at least).

I definitely agree ArrowWolf. But it doesn't mean that it's a bad thing per say.

True but I'd rather not see it too modern. If the 2012 coaster is going to be car themed then at least use old timey style cars. (Which it looks like they are going for that so hats off to them.)

And I'd rather not see the other countries get the same treatment in theming as Oktoberfest, Sorry for those who like it but I find it incredibly gaudy! Hurts for me even more because Oktoberfest used to be my favorite section of the park.
