They don't allow people in the back rows when not needed because they don't want to clean up those rows in between shows. Kind of lazy I think.

It's called Monster Stomp only in reference to the previous iterations of the show, which did have monsters in it. They kept the name because it was a popular show and knew it would get people in seats.
I didn't notice any major changes to the show this season. It's still disjointed, it's still confusing, and it's still one of the best shows in BGW's lineup right now. No real surprises here if you've seen last year's iteration but, thank god it's finally up and running regardless—this is eons better than the other two HOS 2019 show offerings if you ask me.
As long as there is still an awkward Evanescence mashup, I'll be there.

Sound was horrible tonight compared to past years. Sounds like there were no front speakers. We were dead center 4th row and all the sound was coming from behind us.
I just caught this show for the first time this season. I'm not sure if anything was changed from last year. The show is at its best when it completely abandons the Jack the Ripper story altogether in favor of the more straight up "stomp" and dance elements. It's a decent show, entertaining enough, but the narrative remains dodgy at best and there's potential for a much better show here, especially since it's the only real HOS show this year, which is pretty lame. I know Fiends was pretty divisive to maligned on this site, but I really miss it. The park is lacking a good Halloween show, which it could sure use since all the recycled mazes are relatively lackluster.
I would have taken Fiends over Stomp any day, I liked the jokes and it made me feel like they had some creative liesure in some parts. Stomp is cookie cutter show after show.

I feel like MSoRR is trying to be Phantom of the Opera. This is probably thanks to the Lost in Adaptation series bringing up Phantom (I have little interest in the book or musical or movie, so I knew little about it before hand. Other than there's a Phantom, a girl named Christine, a chandelier falls, and theres a boat in some catacombs. Oh and lots of people think it's a love story between the Phantom and Christine, it's really just a creepy stalker and somebody should prolly remove her from the situation entirely like asap.) But I think looking at the plot of the show compared to Phantom, especially the musical, there's a few similarities honestly.
Not sure if that's what this show was going for, but it's an interesting way to look at it. And I feel like it would explain the motivations between the Ripper and the prostitute.
Just a thought.

Kinda off topic, but just the other day I found out that I have morning coffee a few times a week with a gentleman that was a construction supervisor for The Globe Theater when it was built. He had a hand in various other parts of the park as well. He talked about how over engineered the structure of the roof of the Globe was.
Anyhow I have always had the Phanton of the opera feel in the area as well as the show.

The musical that Monster Stomp on Ripper Row draws most of it’s inspiration from/ makes references to is Sweeney Todd. There may have been some slight references to Phantom of the Opera, but most of that went away when they removed the “Light My Fire” scene. (For instance: they still have the catacombs projection, but it is downplayed to the point where it might as well not even be there anymore. The lantern and descending a staircase are also gone, which definitely had strong Phantom-y vibes.)
Sweeney Todd is set in England, whereas Phantom of the Opera is set in France, so it would make sense that the former would have more references in MSRR.
POTO is my favorite musical, though, so I can appreciate a good nod to it, even if coincidental.

I was more aiming for the explaination of the god awful "romance" in RR. I've just come to accept that that's what the park has given us for years, but I went with people this year who hadnt seen the show and they were strongly opposed to the Ripper/Lady plot. They didn't hate the show as a whole, but they definitely hated that. And honestly that feels more Phantom-y than Todd.
And just because Phantom takes place in France doesn't mean that RR couldn't be somewhat loosely based on it. Or that it's more closely related to Sweeney Todd, simply bc that one takes place in England. I mean Fiends is both Frankenstein and Rocky Horror (which is also Frankenstein) but Fiends clearly doesn't take place in anything remotely relating to either story. You just understand the references to both stories because it's more obvious about it. I feel like a lot of people get kinda hung up on the idea that since something takes place in a certain location, it must always take place in that location when it comes to these older stories. Which isn't always true.

And here, I thought it drew inspiration from Jack the Ripper who was known for cutting women’s throats (and more).
