At this point I've gotten to the point that whenever Scott says something will be shocking or not for the faint of heart, it becomes a "Boy Who Cried Wolf" situation. We all remember when he said the hordes were terrifying. In fact the only thing that could be considered as "shocking" were the sex jokes in Fiends...

ThrillGeek is what we call a press release site. They just publish word for word what parks tell them to- typically to turn a profit and get into media events. Thanks for posting the source PR.

I did see something fishy when I saw the quotes I posted in the article. Yes, I pulled Scott's quotes and posted them here, just to see the reactions of people to those specific quotes.

Using the term special effects scares me.

I do not want those god forsaken 4D effects used with this show. I don't want my chair to vibrate when the Ripper kills somebody.(or whatever it is they're gonna do.) I don't want water being sprayed at me to "simulate the blood splatter from the kill" or whatever nonsense they can come up with to explain it. And I most certainly don't want scents.

Not going to lie, that'd be pretty cool to have water squirt you every time to simulate blood splatter. I would definitely enjoy that.

To the real point though, I don't think every show is made for every person. Just like movies or books, we have our own preferences. If you don't like 4D effects, then that just means this show isn't for you. However, I greatly enjoy them and I feel I will love them within this show.

It does scare me a bit when they say you can here the sound beating in your chest with the 1K+ speakers.

Here's the thing though: I want to like this show. I want to be able to sit down and watch it any visit, and say "Yes this is a good show." Those 4D effect will ruin it for me, because I hate them that much. I told you this before, but I will repeat myself. They are a distraction from the show. Because suddenly your attention is moved from the actors and musicians on stage, to the fact that "oo my seat vibrated!" or "Oh man now I'm slightly damp from that water spray."

If this was like Pirates or Haunted Lighthouse, then I'd accept them. Because it is a movie. But Monster Stomp is a live show. And while I'm sure the actors get used to the sudden screaming coming from the audience when water/air hits them or their chairs vibrate. But it's still slightly insulting. To me it's saying, that their work isn't good enough to enjoy on it's own, and they have to add "special effects" to make it more interesting.

I'm 95% sure the show is for me. I've loved Monster Stomp every year I've seen it. (Which is every year since it's creation with the exception of 2008, since I didn't see it that year.) So saying the show may not be for me basing it on the fact that I don't want 4D effects, is absolutely stupid. So stop it.

The show's merits should be based on what the actual show gives you. And having things added as a distraction from the show, will take away from the shows presence. Again this isn't a movie, it's a stage show. There's absolutely no need for stupid ass gimmicks to "enhance" the show.

My guess is Scott is planning to pump orange scents whenever somebody gets killed... with fake orange-colored blood everywhere... because Scott knows orange blood obviously rocks more than red blood. Genetics totally got it wrong.
