Mix It Up

Maybe they can kill two birds with one stone. Instead of the theater sitting dark, move Entwined to it for the outside atmosphere it deserves. Then folks should be able to see their plates as they eat and watch it.
I'm actually a little surprised to hear Mix it Up is in troubled waters right now. It's a fairly new show in an enormous venue that everyone sees (and hears) that's remarkably entertaining and full of energy. It may not fit the best into ancient Rome-era Italy, but it seems pretty popular, and the cast really seems to love what they're performing. Plus, didn't they add those Italian restaurant/shop facades to the sides of Teatro di San Marco, presumably to help the fitting of this show? I'd hate to see it go to waste. While I'd prefer a connection to Italy that's more defined than a 20th century Italian restaurant, this is a really good show that shouldn't go away yet. Like BGW Family said, there is a certain, remarkably unfitting and unpopular fairytale show in the Festhaus that I'd prefer as a candidate to get the axe.

Update: I was actually wrong on Mix it Up's last performance date. Believe it or not, it sounds like they'll actually be performing through the 8th- that gives the park just four days to completely retheme Il Teatro di San Marco for Dig it Up.
There have been many different discussions about this for next year. Just for shiggles I will talk about them. There is always the possibility that the Globe will not be ready in the Spring which means Italy would get a makeover most likely removing MIU or changing it drastically. The other possibility was leave it alone and try to go F*** UP Celtic Fyre by removing it but once again it is coming back. Word is CF would have been gone this year if Carl hadn't put his foot down but who knows. If the Globe is ready then I can't see the money to mess with Italy. BUT..........Scott has always hated musicians. Musicians are less likely to take his crap and he loathes the fact that the GP likes the show. It was not his idea and he was hoping it would fail. He has had a lot of trouble with them and has fired several. There are two people he had to hire back because he lied to HR about it. Most of them are leaving and will only return when Scott is gone. They have had such a hard time trying to hire musicians that it might not even be possible to do it again with so many leaving.

I take great offense to Mr. G not liking musicians, as I am one. I'm sure I speak for any other musicians on this site saying that it is not easy to play, "dance, and be entertaining all at the same time. Musicians really need more respect for what they do, because I'm sure if he tried to do all those things he would fail. He really needs to stop thinking that the musicians and actors make a show bad, the creator makes it bad, honestly. I'm sorry, but these kinds of things bug me out, and now I am going to have a horrible rest of the day. Great! Thanks SCOTT! 
I can't wrap my head around an entertainment official not liking musicians. After all, music in general is a major aspect of any show, especially any show at the park. Even if the music is recorded, musicians somewhere had to play for that music to be created. Music is also a very popular aspect and form of entertainment. What is a concert composed of? Music and musicians that play music.

I'm not sure it is unique, however. I once worked with a "choreographer," who told me that she couldn't respect me, because I am classically trained and tap is the only valid form of dance.

That to me is selfish personal taste. Many of my friends stem from the performing arts and all of them have their personal preferences which is fine, but they at least respect others choices and styles because when mixed and matched together those different styles can make an excellent show. For example, Celtic Fyre, American Tap versus Irish Step.

Well, some set ups are not so much. I think the worst would be the Festhaus. Abbeystone is simple and basic, there is no large complex set to really put up, and from what others have said they started the conversion rather quickly after the final show.
As for Mix It Up, I could see them not having to take too much out of their time to do anything. The most complex part of the set is the T-Rex, which is still in storage at this moment.

Given SG's recent track record and the direction some things appear to be going, I think it is clear that he LOVES pre-recorded music. The "musicians" and "singers", in his mind, are just another prop. Less time is needed I guess to learn air guitar and the illusion of live performance. Add glitter, gaudiness and GIANT critters on stage...now you have a BIG SHOW!! "Musician...peformers...PFFFFFFFFFFFFF!! Get over your anxiety for short prep time. I can stick any monkey in there and dance. Now where's my ABBA CD?"
BTW, not many of y'all know this, but CK is a tremendous percussionist, and so-so keyboardist. Basically I can make wonderful music as long as I can hit it with sticks. And that includes producers or whoever cause I wouldn't take that crap either.

The current plan is to bring back Mix it Up for 2014. This should be interesting.
I'll be glad if it returns. While it isn't perfect, the musicians are very good, and it provides good atmosphere for eating. I think the only weak scene is the candy medley, and maybe the pitch tubes, since that song has way to much back-up track. As always, my best wishes go to the performers.
