They do use the more marching style of it, but they’ve used the classic styles too. I would agree that the acoustics do not fit what they are trying to do. It’s set up for open air but the area is enclosed. That’s why I rather see the drums muted some, allowing the other instruments to not be mic’ed and playing at regular levels. Would sound so much better.

Something I've always wondered: are the opening and closing number original arrangements of existing songs? For example, the closing number sounds very close to the arrangement of Malaguena performed in "Blast!". The opening song sounds like it might be inspired by Star Trek: The Next Generation. Is there a chance that one might find the same songs and arrangements elsewhere?

That opening has the touch of a few different tunes I recognize from some of my grandparents records.
This really is stuck somewhere between being Stomp and Blast but never really fully fulfills being either. But is really entertaining.

Sorry for the double post. When I posted the recording above I remembered hearing that the cast of MIU calls the finale song "Rutabaga." I remembered this because at the 14:40 mark the cast shouts "Rutabaga!" Yes, the song is based on Malaguena, but somebody was more creative about the name. Has anybody else heard about this?

Me too, but if it can make you feel better. A friend of mine who worked at the park gave an interesting rumor that if Mix it Up! is gone, then a brand new show will replace it. The show in question is probably one of the choices for a new song and dance show using traditional Italian music and costumes with a brand new set design to go with it. But again, this was all a rumor from 2017 so things might have changed from then to now.

A friend of mine who performs in MIU has mentioned that none of the wind players have received anything about coming back, but the percussionists have heard some murmurs about a potential percussion-only show. With the latest trends of their production company, JM Music, I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility. Although, if it’s anything like the one they did for Carowinds...yikes.
