I don't know what Scott's glitter did to this show last night, but it was EPIC. The acting, music, dance, all amazing - totally blew last year's performance out of the water. Perhaps even better than Gloria? For the record, Gloria was amazing last night too.
I still dearly love Miracles, but this past weekend they added a male to the ballerina solo act during Christmas Canon. It added nothing to the show for me. I know there has been a duet in years past, but all it did was put shackles on this superb dancer. Instead of her amazing dancing that we experienced the first two weekends, she has pretty much been reduced to jumping into his arms and being carried around the stage. Nothing against the male dancer; I know this is classic ballet stuff and considered beautiful, but she doesn't get to shine like she did before. If you've seen her solo performances, you can tell she just wants to break free and do her thing. I suppose this was the plan all along (budget issues/find a performer?), but why mess with something GLORIOUS? CK not happy.

Actually- I would like to see both her and him get solos. I love ballet and it would be nice to see him perform as well. Then maybe they can have a number together.

Yes a grand Pas is a great privilege, she isn't looking as happy with the new partner because she is afraid he will drop her! This isn't about ego, this is more about being given an inexperienced partner to lift her. Either way, she is spectacular with or without the partner.
Most people would never know this- but I was a competitive roller skater. (Same thing as fancy skating on ice- doubles-triples- just roller skates).
I once skated pairs and was dropped from an over head press... meaning I was over my partner's head with his arms and my arms fully extended. At the time, my skates were just a bit too small and when he dropped me I fell from all the way without slowing down and landed on my toes- which bent both large toenails backwards.
So yes... I agree with Nic... having a partner you do not trust = unhappy performances.
I sincerely hope this is not the case and they are just not used to working together.

The worst is when you actively dislike your partner and not only do you have to try to trust him on stage, but you also have to act as if you are in love with him.
My first ever partnering on stage was in the Puss in Boots pas. I was young and fairly uncomfortable with the whole thing. The choreography calls for time to run his hand up my leg while it was extended to the side. It was unpleasant. On the other hand, he didn't drop me.

I will say this. I always preferred solos to partnering. I guess wasn't that trusting of the guys. In classical ballet, they are mostly props to hold us up. I know contemporary has changed that. In any case, I doubt I am not only dancer who prefers to depend on only herself on stage. Plus, as long as no one made me talk, I loved the spotlight.

Very cool, CK! Now that I think about, that stage really does go through a very extreme change in centerpieces over the season. From a giant soup pot to a grape smashing stand to a giant T-Rex skeleton to a fancy piano, that stage really goes through a lot!
When you think about it actually, goes through a lot less than the other stages. The Festhaus' stage has to go from an "enchanted forest"*rolls eyes*, to a night club, then to a "house party" with an unusually large fireplace.
Abbeystone theatre goes from an Irish Pub, to an evil laboratory, then finally to a projection/moving stage with steps.
So when you actually think about it, that stage does get changed a lot, but it's almost nothing compared to what goes into all the other stages.

SLAM GRAND piano shells
After looking around the site, seeing sizes and clients, BGW's Miracles piano shell seems to be one of, if not THE largest. I want to know more.

I went to the 7:00 showing last night, and it was just beautiful. It was a full house and the performers were the best I've ever seen them. I'm a huge Gloria fan, but Miracles surprisingly was my favorite show this season. Gloria comes in a very close second. I like Deck The Halls, but I'm afraid it doesn't come anywhere close to Gloria, and Miracles this year.
I'll write a TR sometime today, but one thing needs to be said now. Entertainment needs to be begging at that woman's feet for her to be the new head Diva next year. They were all phenomenal in their own right, but the gold angel in the trio stole that entire show last night.

Actually I think the golden angel should definitely return next year, but she should not become the new head diva. This season's diva was my favorite out of all the years Miracles has performed. She had just the right voice for the part. The Golden angel had just the right voice for her part also, but I don't think she has the nice subtle voice for head diva. This year's head diva should be the one to stay, for sure.
