I had a very different experience with the fanny packs.

Whenever I visited, there would be a line just to enter the queue as people would be waiting to receive a fanny pack from Tempesto's greeter. Many guests didn't quite understand the use of the fanny pack, requiring the greeter to explain it to them, which would cause the line to back up. One time I went to ride, the line to enter the queue stretched back to the Plinko game, even though the queue itself was empty; the holdup was caused by the distribution of fanny packs.

Even then, it's not like Tempesto used the fanny packs exclusively. There was still a park employee whose job was to stand in the station holding a big box full of loose articles. Essentially, he served the same purpose as the article boxes at KD, but had to carry it the whole time and walk around with it. Silliness of making a person carry the box aside, this scenario begs a more serious question: what is the point of Tempesto's fanny packs if there is an article box-like system in place anyway? Doesn't one system negate the necessity of the other?

I'd also be remiss if I didn't point out how disorganized the fanny pack system can be. Trying to keep track of all those packs can be mayhem. I saw one guest holding an orange Tempesto fanny pack in Banbury Cross, and I have a feeling she wasn't planning on returning it.

In my opinion, park-issued fanny packs are not the answer. Article boxes would be preferable, but even just sticking to lockers would be much better.

You could buy your own fanny pack.

Pro: Great storage option for rides.

Con: You own and walk around in public with a fanny pack.

I hate to say it but I'm honestly not opposed to the return of fanny packs.  They are weirdly convenient, especially for visiting theme parks.

Except for the fact that fanny packs make my ride experience uncomfortable sometimes.

Article bins are for people who still managed to slip their stuff past the entrance person.

Well...duh...I was getting the impression they were saying that is the point of fanny packs if they still don't care if you sneak stuff that far...which goes against the ride policy.

Also, I honestly can't tell if this thread is off topic or not...

I've never had a problem with comfort.

Fanny packs just seem to be more of a logistical hassle for staff, opposed to a convenience for guests.

They are cheap and they are replaceable but they still belong to the park and they usually want people to return them. That’s why there’s an orange box at the exit for you to dump it off.

It’s like letting a friend borrow a pencil. It’s no real loss to you if they take it but I’m pretty sure you’re still gonna want it back in case you’re stuck in a situation where you need a pencil.

Calling security is definitely an overreaction though.

Maybe the park could fit them with a little device that zaps the wearer with an electrical shock whenever they're taken too far from the ride.

A cantilevered shelter will basically be similar to the overflow lot's shelters that have slanted roofs.

Security presence seems enhanced this year. When entering through security with a plat pass I was asked for a photo ID. After parking in England there were two BGW security vehicles as well as a James City County police car. The unattended JCC car was there the next day as well. Probably a good move and a subtle reminder for guests to behave.

Just to update the lockers are $5 a day and you can transfer them to any ride but you can only keep it at a ride for 2 hours without paying an additional unspecified fee
