There aren't that many pieces that were usable so the availability is slim. They cut out of straight pieces of track from Lift #2. That's kinda an astronomical price as the value of the track is basically scrap steel. I don't even think they cleaned the surface rust out of the inside of the pipe.

Anyone have a picture of the actual item? Would be cool to see the quality of it (if it’s polished/rounded off or if it’s literally a sharp ring of metal)

I'm willing to bet it was done by the same company that did the keychains (Tokens & Icons), in which case the edges will be nicely and cleanly rounded. You can kinda tell from the official pic.

Photos as promised.

Quality of the track piece is totally fine with me and the cards and whatnot that are included are nice. I don't love the stand at all though. It isn't actually thick enough to hold the track piece off of whatever table everything is sitting on and it doesn't provide any way to prop up and display the photo/stats card or the certificate of authenticity. Again, I definitely don't think this is worth $600—even to me—but at the earlier, rumored price tag (or even $100 more with discounts), I think this woulda been a sure-fire win. At $600 though, I think the stand should be considerably nicer—probably made of wood with a felt concaved area to cradle the track slice and a with a place to prop up the two cards that are included.

VERY curious to see how quickly BGW sells through these—and if the rumored third item exists.

To defend BGW a little on pricing I did an Ebay search and found several examples of Wicked Twister pieces reselling for over 700. Not sure if CP issued any certificate of authentication with their's but it's nice to see.

I will be honest and say that I bought one using my pass member discount of 50%. The reasoning I used to justify the purchase, besides nostalgia, was this is a unique proposition to purchase a piece of something that you can still ride and is still operational.

While I am not fully aware of any other rides that you can literally own a piece of it while it is operating, I do consider myself an enthusiast and do not think there are many other rides that you can say this. If any at all. Maybe there is, but to me, this is a unique opportunity. This is where I place the value along with the amount of nostalgia I have for this ride.

I can't really say much about anyone who chooses to buy one for that price for nostalgia alone. Most expensive thing I've ever bought from BGW was thousands of dollars. Just for nostalgia.

This is cool info, actually. How did you find this out?

Thanks for these photos, Zach. BG owes you a commission - your pics cemented my decision to make the drive and get one. It will be interesting to see if this is the middle tier item, and the rumored upper tier plaque shows up at an even higher price.

I don't think anyone can fault you for picking one up for 50% off. And I firmly believe that the price was determined with that grandfathered discount in mind. For all the reasons you mentioned, I got one with just the measly 30%.

Rumor has it that they still have more track that they can convert to additional, future merch.

I definitely don't think they made enough keychains. 150 was a wild underestimate. Even at $75, I think they could have done a series size of 1000 and sold through them easily.

Given how expensive they are, an edition size of 100 for the track slices seem fine to me. I still think they're only actually selling right now due to people with the grandfathered Platinums buying them up at often more than 50% off but who knows, maybe the actual numbers don't reflect that impression.

If I were in BGW's shoes, I would probably cut up most of the remaining track supply into rectangles a little longer than the keychains, but long-ways down the track, and have them engraved just like the keychains. Scrap the fancy box and whatnot, ditch the keyring, etc—all those savings can be profit. Just make a series of 1000 of these track bits and put them in a basket for $100 each. Margins would be notably higher than the keychains, it massively ups supply of track merch overall, and gives people a more accessible item at a price many can stomach.

The down side to that is they are selling the current stuff at such a high price because they are selling it as a limited chance to own and a collector item you start add more suddenly and you run the risk of backlash. Not that they been to worried about that in recent years.

Ugh, I’m on extended vacay and won’t make it back until 7/14 at the earliest. I would’ve considered getting it with my 50% discount
It honestly would surprise me if the rush was over and it took a while to sell through what was left. I plan to be at the park fairly frequently picking up the summer tickets and we keep people updated on what J hear about supply on hand.

The splatter on the inside of the track/ring in the close up picture kinda looks like plasma cutter slag does it not?
