What would REALLY help capacity is having reasonable harnesses that allow for moderately overweight people/people with broad shoulders to actually ride the ride without us pushing them down to the point where people can't breath. It's absolutely ridiculous.

I didn't see that issue during my visit. But this doesn't surprise me. This is a European company after all and they don't design the rides with "American" sizes in mind. B&M had this same issue for years before they started adding big boy seats. And Intamin is problematic for some on their various rides.
I agree. I'm little skinny guy so don't have any problems with European rides. I still haven't got the chance to ride it and my only chance will be this Saturday or I will have to wait for the season to start to ride.

RE: Mäch Tower

I rode this ride a few weeks ago. I was thrilled and severely disappointed at the same time. The ride was stopped 3 times before even leaving the ground because they had to keep pulling people off the ride because the harnesses wouldn't go down all the way. Then kids started getting off the ride because their parents thought there was a problem with the ride. Mind you...the people they took off looked like 'average build' people. I know one thing: as soon as I sat in the seat, the bottom of the seat was so narrow (from front-to-back) that it crushed my privates (no, I'm not joking). It was so narrow that they continued to be crushed through the whole ride. Not only that, my shoulders wouldn't fit into the back of the seat. It's almost like they molded the seats completely wrong! The corners of the shoulders of the seat dug into the back of each of my shoulders. I'm average in build. Only my son and wife fit in the seat. I noticed others around me complaining how uncomfortable the seats were. Quite a different molding than Griffin seats (or any of the other park ride seats for that matter). I rode the ride once...and only once. It was a scary and very high ride. I admit to being frightened even though I'm an adult. lol. Sadly, I wasn't about to have myself being hurt again just sitting in the flippin' seat. I can't believe this wasn't caught early on when they had the seats installed and tested. Busch seriously needs to change out the seats...or a fair amount of people will not be able to ride what could be a great ride. I also think they should have music on the ride. So it was a thrilling ride...yet also very painful for me to ride. I think the lines would move WAY faster if NORMAL people were not escorted off the ride because the harness wouldn't lock down far enough. I'll also be writing the park about the problem, in hopes that they take my advice seriously. I don't really see this as a harness issue. I think the seats are molded wrong so that people can't fit their shoulders all the way back in the seat. The narrow shoulder mold forces the riders shoulders forward too much. At least I was able to ride it once. Shame I can't ride it again.

RE: Mäch Tower

I'm sure the park has gotten tons of complaints about the ride... I wouldn't be suprised if they got new wider seats (yes I know that would not mean so many people can ride at once) over the winter... Like going from 30 to 24 seats

RE: Mäch Tower

Seat supports are integrated into the ride vehicle itself. This dilemma puts the park in a rough spot as a new ride vehicle would need ordering more than likely. That is how it looks from first person. The beam support is welding directly to the vehicle itself, sandblaster, coated, and painted. That's major dollars to fix.

Most of those things were running through my mind after I rode it, Atlantis...although I didn't know how it was constructed. What I was thinking was, "holy...this is gonna cost $$$ to make it right...". I was also thinking that if they modified the seats, it might result in less passengers per lift, like cpt Awesome said. Still...faster loading with less people being pulled off. And aLOT more happy riders.

RE: Mäch Tower

This ride needs 2 things to fix it in a manner that will not cost the park an absurd amount of money..
1. This ride needs a test seat! It is ridiculous that it does not seeing it obviously does not accommodate riders with large physical attributes.
2. The seat-belts on each seat of the actual ride need to match the distance required to ride.. Drop Tower at KD does this and it is flawless. Can't buckle the belt? Cannot ride... This whole retractable belt thing is absurd...

^ He has it right. I'd say that the park actually doing anything to the seats is extremely unlikely at best BUT those changes should be made by opening day next year.

RE: Mäch Tower

Not sure if anyone you have seen this, but moser has made mt into a new product... And stole our (very poor) name: Mach Tower

www.moserrides.com/thrillrides/mach-tower/mach-tower.htm

RE: Mäch Tower

I'm not sure that's an actual product, seems more like they're using it as a promotion.

If you look at the page title, it says "Gravity Tower".

RE: Mäch Tower

Well Mach Tower was Moser's first drop tower, or at least first major drop tower. Being their first, they probably are going to advertise it to try and get other park's or people to purchase a similar product. Plus, as you can see they are advertising the special effects of the drop tower as well.

Moser calling it Mach Tower because they sell two different heights of gravity rides and can be found here
http://www.moserrides.com/lite/-thrillrides/thrill-rides.htm
and they are also big into carnival and flat rides.
Here's the difference between Mach Tower and Gravity Tower
1) Mach Tower
The incredible tower: 75 mt high with 30 vibrating and rotating seats.

2) Gravity Tower
Models from 33 m to more than 100 m

RE: Mäch Tower

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but when driving by BG, you can sometimes see MT running (during the off-season). Yesterday it looked as if they had stopped it at the top for testing purposes.

RE: Mäch Tower

^YEAH! I passed by KD twice around Christmas and saw the trolley up there. It looks like they're storing it up there possibly? I was going to mention that, but didn't want to go "off topic."

RE: Mäch Tower

I believe most drop towers do that I know when drop zone at kd the trolley is up at the top. I believe its to prevent that if any button is pressed then they will have time to be able to stop the ride. or they are working inside of the tower. since the were the car sits is by the door they need to move the car out the way to get in.
