does anyone but me find it neat/good that the tower is spinning?

Not too big of a surprise for me, Frankly I'd be annoyed if the thing didn't spin.
True but this is the first time that I know of that they tested the spinning

PS: It takes a whole lot more than that to be banned.

Well heck, why didn't you say so? I think I'm going to start posting "That's what she said" posts in all the threads now! :p

lol ikr I was like "Erm...aren't all circular drop towers spinning?" and then I saw that and I said "ohhhhhhh";)

RE: Mäch Tower

Today around 5:30 p.m. they did several drop tests. No spinning. Taken to the top at what looked like a normal speed, then dropped. Drop car still doesn't lower very quickly. Also after about three drops, a maintenance man jumped on the catch car and rode up halfway checking the brakes on the south side of the tower. Nothing else of real importance. Obviously there were several testers standing around. Each time it dropped they all looked pretty content with it. All testing had stopped by eight-ish.

Quick Question: Do they have to test it at night for aviation and lighting structure purposes? I.E. see if the lights sway at night...

I would ASSUME they do it at night to have a lesser crowd around. Lesser crowd = lesser amount of mindless tourists asking if it is going to open that day.

RE: Mäch Tower

I was at the park yesterday and saw the testing mentioned above. Also spoke to an employee who said the latest word he'd gotten was that they were going to give the employees the opportunity to try it out next week and it should be open to the public in about two weeks. No new news, I know - but a good confirmation from someone who seems to know. It was starting to look like we might get the coaster before the tower was ready.

RE: Mäch Tower

I cannot fathom the level of frustration the higher-ups at Busch are feeling about this. An August opening of a major attraction like this is something I've never heard of before, not at least for a Busch Park. The "two-weeks" excuse is getting very old. This is a logistics failure on many levels, such delays simply CANNOT happen with Project 2012. No launch issues, no event building problems, nothing. This is why attendance drops and Kings Dominion reaps the benefits.

We need to keep a tally of how many times that has been posted.

RE: Mäch Tower

Does anyone else find it a little strange that they haven't done any testing with the water dummies? Aren't they supposed to make sure it is safe to ride with those dummies measuring the forces and such a good amount of time before anyone rides it?

RE: Mäch Tower

Well, we have not seen it with riders yet, so let's not get too happy go jackie just yet ;)

Honestly though, has anyone seen it go through an actual full ride cycle yet? Raise, spin then drop? I fear we might not be as far along as we had hoped. Hope I'm wrong.

RE: Mäch Tower

I know I am a little late on this, but in the video a few pages back with the tower going up, spinning, and then dropping, does anyone else think that is a slow drop? It hits the brakes very fast. I am sure once people get on it and there is more weight it will go faster, but did anyone else think it was going farely slow?

Obviously when I say "slow drop" I dont mean actually slow, but you get my point... I hope

I think the free fall section of the drop is only about 80 feet.

RE: Mäch Tower

I305 definitely had its share of problems, it never had significant amount of downtime tho.

Back to Mäch Tower...

Is the queue and all that finished, so all we are waiting for is the ride to get running?

RE: Mäch Tower

What are we waiting on? The brake fins were repaired, the car itself was repaired. 0.0

Maybe theres like a bet to see how long the workers can pretend Mach Tower is down. *Testing Mach Tower* "Pahahaha the manager is such an idiot." Manager: "So how was testing going?" Worker: "Horrible, it'll be at least 2 weeks before it's up and running."

I wouldn't be surprised if thats whats going on.
