RE: Mäch Tower

All this just makes me more skeptical of these "color restrictions"... we don't have to listen to kingsmill anymore! and no matter how much you paint a ride "light/sky blue" you can't make it dissapear! rant over.

RE: Mäch Tower

The park was there before kingsmill was... The park has the jurisdiction to do what they want, end of story.

RE: Mäch Tower

Well there was the time when they were both owned by the same company so they had a lot of say. Not as much anymore however, but they're slowing getting away from KingsMill

RE: Mäch Tower

I hate the residents of Kingsmill. They were against Apollo's Chariot's color scheme but the park was adamant as it was crucial to the theme of the ride because in Greco-Roman mythos, Apollo sat on a gold throne (the color of the supports) and wore a purple robe (the track color).

I hope the park builds a bright dayglow chartreuse giga just to piss them off:exclamation:

As far as Mach Tower goes, it sounds like it MIGHT open in time for Christmastown!

Really? I didn't know that was why Apollo's painted like that. Knowing that makes it even cooler!

Yea, That'll teach 'em! Kingsmill needs to piss off!

Yup. That's the basis of the color scheme for the track and supports.

And if you look closely on the front triangular panel on each train, they depict the four mythical horses that drove the chariot across the sky. They even have mythological names which are: Flame, Fire, Brilliant and Dawn.

It just makes me laugh when some people think that Apollo's Chariot has no theming!

I'm not a fan of overly themed coasters. I prefer subtle theming that isn't over the top. I like when coasters have seemingly generic train designs but with a meaningful paint scheme or like the symbols on AC.
I also like theming elements similar to Alpengeist's station area and the Wolf's Bavarian village.

A friend of mine once gave me the idea that Nessie should have an animatronic Loch Ness Monster somewhere in the ride. I told him it would ruin the ride for me. I think that would be over-doing it. :-/

That's totally retarded. My question though is why would they have to change anything if they already got everything approved? Hypothetically it was already supposed to be open. It looks to me like they were never planning on doing this. Wonder what changed....

Watch how you use that word! I recieved a PM from a lurker saying it was offensive and unless I am a doctor not to use it. I quickly sent a link to the various definitions of it

If the stripes are vertical and not swirled then I would guess that it was a quick change due to complaints. Vertical lines are easy to tape out, swirls.... not so much

Both very royal colors. Same reason pencils are yellow... look it up.

I don't. When was this?

PS: Mach Tower. (By saying that, this thread is still on topic!)

Probably 6+ years ago. Last I remember it being there was in middle school.

RE: Mäch Tower

Haha, I know people who feel the same way. I feel differently about it since "retarded" comes from the word "ritard" which means slow (musical reference! Ritarando!). So yeah, when things are actually "slow" they are indeed retarded by definition. Not like calling something "gay" when you mean "stupid."

And hmmm. Was it it just stripes or the whole tower?

Such an intellectual clarification - take note world!

If this thing isn't open by 4th of July weekend, Busch is going to lose out in more ways than one on this.

RE: Mäch Tower

i don't want to get too much into the meanings of words, but it's often the intent of the word that's the issue. I think you can figure out which one is a derogatory use of the word. I personally have been involved with many people that you could call mentally retarded and often the use of the word retard is used as an insult rather than the correct usage of the word. Not trying to tell you guys what to do with your words, but just some perspective about how people with mental disabilities feel about the way the word is used.

And it most certainly is used as a slang for stupid, just the way that people use the word gay.

anyways here's some more info if you are interested.
