RE: Mäch Tower

Yeah, I usually go once or twice during the spring/summer season, once at HOS and once for Christmas Town!

RE: Mäch Tower

I mean if there using magnets to launch and brake it i see no problem except with the cold winds as you go down.

RE: Mäch Tower

I can't imagine any reason why they wouldn't design it to operate in colder temperatures.

RE: Mäch Tower

There is some new concept art:

Franco, are you sure we aren't twins who were separated at birth? I looked at the thing and I immediately thought: "So they're themeing it to a candy cane to further enforce the "Happy Kiddy Fun Land with Beer, Pretzels, and Candy" theme. What a great idea..."

RE: Mäch Tower

They're theming it to a freaking may pole!!!! That's what they said they were doing. Not surprised. Looks better than horizontal stripes though.

RE: Mäch Tower

Yup. Maypole.....German tradition. Makes sense.

And if you look at some images of said tradition, they look like drop towers.

Just not liking it is one thing, but they actually got the theming right.

said traditional maypole

Also, don't they often use sky-colored tones on the really tall attractions to help get approval from James City Co. planning? At least that's what I understood was one reason why Alpie's and Griffon's tracks are the colors that they are, and are so similar. 'course, that doesn't explain the purple and gold of AC, which is also very prominent in the skyline, but still, I bet the light blue tones helped with getting needed approvals. I bet the county would've balked at a giant tower in the German national colors of black and red and gold. But though the 'burg is beautiful it's hardly Christopher Wren's London skyline, so ???

Not especially wowed by the look or the prospect of the tower, but I'm sure it will be an enjoyable-enough ride and should have wide appeal, i.e., be a "family" ride exciting enough for adults awa kids but not as intimidating as a coaster. And really, a drop tower is a basic type of ride that BGW has always lacked.

RE: Mäch Tower

Um, to those who don't like this....are there any other ways to it without it being completely blue?? I actually kind of like it.

I like it too. I can't understand why people are condemning this ride already before it is even finished being built. Everyone keeps freaking out over the color and themes of the ride when the theme fits right in with the park and its inviting.

I think the problem people are having with this ride is that its just a flat and not an attraction themed all by itself
example:

People were looking for a Dark Kastle kind of seperate theming and its own area vs. a simple flat blending in with the surrounding rights. Like if Battering Ram was added to Italy rides. It would simply blend in with the surrounding theming.

I hope i was clear with the explanation

Very good point to make. You are correct, the Mach Tower is rubbing me the wrong way not necessarily because I don't like the idea, but because it isn't an experience. The last real experience added to the park was DarKastle. It is further worsened by the fact that the last time they attempted to add and experience to the park, it was one of the worst things Busch Gardens has ever done (EitA). It comes back to the whole "Amusement Park vs. Theme Park" idea. Theme Parks offer experiences while Amusement Parks offer rides. The Mach Tower, in my opinion, is a ride, not an experience- just like Griffon was.
