I can think of at least a dozen attractions that need that TLC much more than Le Scoot does... :-/

Well if you think about it, most of the ride is in the trees and is probably only easy to see because of no leaves. Great pictures Nic.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but this is from the Permit application of Phase II:
"FLUME SUPPORT MODS - PHASE II - REPLACE STRUCTURAL STEEL SUPPORTS IN VICINITY OF ELEVATED TROUGH AFTER LIFT AND BEFORE SAWMILL AND SPILLWAY INCLUDED."

Although, they could be doing both?

I get most of what it's saying, but what's the spillway? And I don't understand how this is bad news.?

Not bad news, but I was thinking that would also say fiberglass replacement on the permit if they were doing that.

I would think that maybe the pieces could still get atleast a paint job, if not a whole refurbishment. I think it is still completely possible that they could still be giving the pieces a little TLC while they're down. After all, if they were already going to take them down because of the support replacements, then they really don't need another perment to get permission for them to give them a little TLC.

Actually, none of this was planned before the opening day of HOS. Sorry we broke her...

I overheard a team member use the word ages ago and remember they were referring to the straightaway directly after the first steep drop. You can see it dismantled in Nora's image two posts above.

Hope this helps.

I just finished my second read through of a great book about Arrow. It's called "roller coasters, flumes, and flying saucers." The story of Ed Morgan and Karl Bacon.

I'm sure it's already been covered somewhere here but what a great read!

So amazing to me that they designed our Le Scoot, Big Bad Wolf, and Nessi!

The book also says that at one time the Busch Gardens parks were quite the competition to Disney!

Don't expect anything new or major. More than likely it is just an update permit for the renovation of the ride. The sub-permit, that is the one under the master permit does clearly state the replacement of the steel supports.

Essentially it just seems to me that they are taking the whole thing down, having every last nut and bolt restored or replaced and then rebuild it. Honestly, I should have seen all this coming. I remember about two years ago Carl said something about plans being made for Le Scoot.

EDIT: I will say we might see most if not all effects come back, that is until they are left to break down again.

The park really seems to not care much about maintaining ride effects, judging from Loch Ness Monster, Curse of Darkastle, Le Scoot, Big Bad Wolf (I think, anyway), Verbolten eventually I'm sure, etc etc etc

Verbolten's effects are already crapping out. The park still hasn't fixed the wolf eyes yet. They're still half broken.

DarKastle's much better on the effects now than it has been in the past thanks to winter rehab. Could be better though.

Loch Ness's effects were problematic from the start. I don't blame them for removing the fog. I wish the park could at least bring the strobes and the cutout.

Don't remember much about Le Scoot's effects, but I'd feel bad for the person sitting near the drop with the bandsaw going off every few seconds. It has to be terrible on the ears.

Just saying the park doesn't really do good with keeping up with special effects. They like to wait many years and then fix everything all at once. This is what they did with DarKastle and I think Pompeii went through something similar recently. Like last year or a year or so recently.

Wait a second... just how many effects do we expect Le Scoot to have? Seriously, we're sitting here complaining about how it's gone to ruin when the only thing remotely close to a special effect the ride has ever even had was a fake saw blade. Do we expect them to project faces of lumberjacks onto walls of water or something?

Sheesh. Now, I'm far from being the most positive about the park on these boards, but you can't say they've let the ride deteriorate because the big fake saw doesn't spin anymore.
