At the risk of giving too much useless information, I would always watch this Dragon Tales episode on the way to the park, with visions of playing in Land of the Dragons in my mind. I would always think about riding Riffle Rapids while watching it. (In fact, I sometimes force myself to watch the episode on the way to the park now, too- it's tradition, man! :p

Applesauce really said perfectly what I was getting at. I feel/felt the very same way about visiting Land of the Dragons and riding Riffle Rapids. Thanks for writing that out, Applesauce! It really was such a wonderful little ride. :(

Riffle Rapids was always one of those rides as a kid that made me feel like a grown up, because I could ride it by myself. It was a ride a fun ride just for me.
But Riffle Rapids was a small flume with a hill and everything, that made me feel more of a big kid than any of those other rides. I'd ride it as many times as possible when I was there.

Applesauce, you summed up exactly how my daughter feels about Grover's Alpine Express. :)

Busch Gardens is throwing a party to celebrate Land of the Dragon’s 20th anniversary. Parents and children are invited to visit Busch Gardens on March 22 to commemorate this milestone with a games, face painting and appearances by some modern-day “dragons.”
The area, which opened in 1994 near the park’s Oktoberfest village, is being rejuvenated with fresh paint, new colors and the addition of a new animal show."

Stage getting utilized again?  If so...Yeah!!

Maybe a smaller version of 'More ... Pet's Shenanigans'? Also, I am interested in the modern-day "dragons". Does that mean costumed character dragons, or actual animals, like Komodo Dragons?

Yessss!!!!! Everything is going to be perfect now!! This almost makes me want to over look the whole Banbury Cross catastrophe.

:) Holy cow, this is amazing.  Amazing.  Words can't even describe how happy this new has made me.  Not only am I happy to see any show return to Land of the Dragons, but an animal show (most likely more of an animal encounter, as opposed to a tricks show like at More Pets Shenanigans) is a great idea for utilizing the stage.  This is more than I realistically expected.  As Matthew said, I may actually be more willing to overlook London thanks to this.

The dragons will roar once again!!

From the sounds of it, this "animal show" is mostly going to be centered around the lizards- ahem, dragons- that the park already has.  Obviously, there isn't much to expect from this show, but I do think it will be cute, and very much needed.  At least there won't really be any way for Scott to squeeze any glitter onto this project (unless they dress the lizards up in little sequin suits which, to be honest, would be frickin' adorable. :p)

I think LOD's show could be good with a little glitter, that way it would match the newly renovated/painted area around it. I don't know what to expect out of the show, but if the kids like it, and it's not a total mess, I think it'll be a success.

Yay, I'm so glad that LoD is getting a new show and a little TLC! The park definitely needs both kids' areas -- FoF is small and strangely located -- and this is a great direction for the park to be headed in.  Take care of your old icons, BGW, they deserve it!

WILLIAMSBURG (March 5, 2014) – The fairy tale dragons at Busch Gardens’ Land of the Dragons® have delighted kids and families for 20 years. This spring, Busch Gardens® is commemorating this special milestone by turning back the hands of time to make its original KIDsiderate® attraction shine like new.
“Families have grown up with Land of the Dragons. Now parents who played in the land’s giant tree as children are returning with their own kids and making memories all over again,” said Park President Carl Lum.
Improvements to the area are already underway. This spring, guests can play in a rejuvenated water-play area and interact with some of the parks less cuddly animal ambassadors. A reptile-inspired show is being developed for the area’s newly remodeled stage.
“This is the land of dragons, so lizards will fit right in as stars of our new show,” said Jay Tacey, Busch Gardens’ zoological manager.
The dragons that call Land of the Dragons home are getting a fresh coat of paint, too. And guests who listen closely may even hear a roar of approval from one of the scaly inhabitants.
“We’re bringing back the dragon roar,” said Park Operations Manager Renee Carino, referring to the recorded roar was part of the original land when it opened in 1994.

Shade structures are being replaced near the stage and fans are being added in select locations for the comfort of parents who may be spending extra time in the newly remodeled land.
“Our KIDsiderate philosophy includes creating comfortable environments for parents so they can keep cool while they watch their kids play,” Carino said.
Families are invited to visit Busch Gardens on March 22 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Land of the Dragons with games, face painting and appearances by some modern-day “dragons.” Children under five can get free admission all summer with the Free 2-Park Preschool Pass, while adults who purchase a Busch Gardens Fun Card online can get Water Country USA added for free in a limited-time offer. For ticketing information, visit www.buschgardens.com/va or call (800) 343-7946.

I wonder what this show is going to be like? I'm glad to hear it will stick with Lizards, or "dragons" to stay with the rest of the area. I'm excited about the Dragon's roar coming back!(most likely the fog will be coming back also, I'm willing to bet they just forgot to mention it) I think I might just roam around in there March 22nd just to see everything.(maybe catch the show?(I'll watch from a far))

Also, I'm really excited to see what the renovated brook will be like. And not that the shade that LOD already had was enough, but now it will have more shade structures, and fans! No one should be hot at LOD anymore..

Overall, I'm really over joyed at this news, I can't wait to see LOD become one of the best kid's areas around again!

I wonder if they are bringing back the slide in the middle of the tree since they didn't announce it, unless it's supposed to be a suprise...

"I'm an adult", I whisper as I openly cry over the dragon roar.

But seriously, I'm super excited for this revamp. I'm really hoping everything turns out really well. I'd love for them to bring back slides. But i wonder what they did to the water play area to make it fresh. Did they just give it a new paint job, or something else.

I think the tree slide was closed for safety reasons... think if someone got stuck in it. You'd have to do a lot of work to get them out, whereas the other slides can be easily dismantled.
