You stop yourself? Someone else blocks you? There's a lot of stupid people out there who will do things like that.

From the Busch Gardens site's Blog

When the park opens for the 2014 season, the Land of the Dragons area will be revitalized and will spring back to life. Guests can expect a brightly painted area, some upgrades to the water play area as well as the stage, where you might find an animal interaction show. The instruments that were added last season will move to the back side of the area, overlooking the Loch Ness Monster. You may be able to hear the Dragon’s roar in full effect, when the little ones try to “scare” those passing by. At the bottom of the tree house, kids will be able to “slide” out on their way to the ground below. For guest comfort, we are adding a few fans to the area, as well as upgrading several shade structures.

I just read that and immediately came here to see if someone posted it.

That is honestly a huge surprise to me that they would bring that back (unless it is something completely new).

I'm a teenager, if anyone asks me where I'm going or why I'm there I'm just going to say I'm going to get my little brother/sister.(considering I don't have either)

Ha, I just bend my knees down a bit, widen my eyes, and push my hair forward. I can pull off the look of a tall ten-year surprisingly well. :D

LOTD is in terrible shape now. It's very pitiful to see. It looks so run down. Sadly the best thing they could do now would be replace it.

I look back at posts like this, in the beginning of this thread, and think, "Thank the Lord Jesus, they didn't do this and decided to do a full renovation!"

Do you think our discussion at the beginning of this thread influenced these renovations?

Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that these renovations kept my belief that Busch Gardens can still do great things to improve and recognize the past. While I'm definitely not the happiest person with Busch Gardens right now, this keeps my belief in them. Now if they could only start doing things like this all around the park....

So do we think LOD will be open on opening weekend? If not, thank God for the skyride Sky-buckets, so we'll be able to get some pictures of the renovations. Can't wait!

Also, just throwing this out there, how about a ParkFans meet-up on the 22nd?;)

I know I'll be there on the 22nd to see Celtic Fyre, and TIO on their opening weekend, and of course the LOD celebration! So if anyone wants to make a meet-up thread for the LOD celebration, I think it would be fun, but I don't want to make one un-less I know other people are going.

WRT the reptile show; there used to be a reptile show in a small theater in Jack Hanna's Wild Reserve. I think it was maybe 4 years ago now. Maybe, this new show will be a revamped version of that show. It mostly involved bringing out reptiles, talking about them and their habitats, and then some snake/lizard touching for the kids at the end. The LotD theater is a little bigger than the one that used to be over at WR.

Aww, oh well. I'd rather them do it right in a long amount of time, than do it wrong in a hurry. Plus we can see it change over time(Construction updates!!) which will be cool.

The thing I' wondering about though is how "weather," can back up a project that long. I know, there must be something else involved to get it pushed back this much.

Busch Gardens was closed most of last week because of the snow, I'm sure that put a huge damper on getting stuff done, especially if they had to prioritize one project over another.

Now that they are opening, they probably have less opportunities to do construction in the park (even if they aren't open all week) and they probably figured that if they had to delay it, might as well delay it for a date during Spring Break season (week before and after Easter).

April 26th could just be a safe day. The last thing you want to do is keep delaying some type of product, see Mach Tower. I am sure 1 week of closure did not harm the project that much. They probably figure it is best to announce the later date so they don't have to push it back again for unforeseen circumstances. Plus it is right after Spring Break. Having it debut in the dead middle of Spring Break would be an awkward date.

The stage is still un-touched.

And there's new paint all around, with other small renovations! I couldn't get pictures of everything though.

I'm not digging the purple things on the roofs. Maybe its just because I always thought they were like metal toppers as a kid since they were always painted a silver/grey color

oh well. It still is looking great. I can't wait until it's all finished.

Did you check and see if the dragon roared?

No, but I doubt it was, I think right now they're working on cosmetics only, the rest will most likely be done later. The purple is still an upgrade, because the silver was looking very, very dirty, and faded.
