An announcement just came on over the park’s PA system in the wildlife reserve at 7:48 PM: “Ladies and gentlemen: the dragons are going to bed soon, at 8 PM.” Has anyone ever heard this announcement before?

It sounded like the man’s voice that announces The Battering Ram spiel, so it sounds like an old spiel, but I don’t think I’ve heard it before.

I finally visited Land of the Dragons for the first time in maybe 2 years. Very disappointed to see the giant slide missing. It feels weird to not have the Ferris wheel, but I must admit that the new game is more fun and engaging than the wheel ever was. Also, are these mounds (third photo) something that was made to replace the slides?

I remember seeing then making those mound things from Nessie, They weren't there last August. I've been meaning to get pictures, thanks.

Made in an interesting discovery a few weeks ago when I decided to take a stroll through LotD for old time’s sake. I always check this little “Porky the Paper Eater” style trash can to see if it’s working, but I’ve rarely ever seen it work in the past decade. It’s supposed to have a motion activated vacuum that sucks up trash in its mouth.

Well, not only did they fix its vacuum, but it TALKS now?? I had no idea it talks. In all my years of visiting LotD, I’ve never heard it talk before. Crazy. Huge props to BGW for restoring some old special effect that seemingly had been lost to history.

I worked at LOtD during its first two seasons and the vacuum part worked but it did not speak with words. If I remember correctly, it made a kind of "nom nom" sound like it was chewing.

How about a throwback Riffle Rapids pic? This is me at the E-Stop position, which apparently now, is just overgrown with brush :( Kids would occasionally freak out when going over the little hill so we would get them out and carry them back to their parents :)

That’s what I remember too. It was a dull, slow “gulp gulp” kind of sound. Sounded almost like a low drum. You had to really listen for it. Maybe someone at the park got their hands on whatever sound file the dragon has and decided to record a voice for it?

Cool pic by the way! I forgot LotD used to have its own uniforms.

I keep hearing about the Land of the Dragons survey, but I haven't gotten one. Any specific, interesting questions or is it just impressions of the area?
The only attractions from my survey were Land of the Dragons and DarKoaster, but pretty usual questions about awareness, main reason for visit, etc. The rest of my survey was about food, merchandise & Summer Nights which is why the Land of the Dragons question really stuck out

For what it’s worth, I got a survey a few weeks ago that asked a handful of questions about Forest of Fun. Maybe the marketing team just wants to get a better feel about the park’s options for small children. (Not a bad idea considering the last time the park announced any new kiddie rides was literally during the George W. Bush administration.)
