I see what you're saying. If Kings Dominion makes Haunt a separate ticket event like SCarowinds or Howl'O'Scream (I believe) then my hope is that they're gonna become bigger in their attraction lineup in the next few years.
Christmas Town is separately ticketed, Howl O Scream is not (for some reason, because BGT is other way around)

The way I read it, Kings Dominion Platinum Passes would be valid at all Cedar Fair parks for the remainder of 2022 and all of 2023...

All Passholders: Enjoy exclusive perks, discounts, and more with your 2023 Platinum Pass. Enjoy unlimited visits the rest of this year and unlimited visits in 2023 at all Cedar Fair parks. Purchase between 8/11-8/14 and get 1 FREE Sunday Fast & Fright Lane Plus to be used between any one public operating day 9/25-10/30/22.
But the question is about separate ticketed events which could now include KD and possibly others we don't yet know about.
Maybe the plan is to clear the park before Haunt. Other parks do that.
If this is the case then that would mean that Platinum and Prestige+ Passes from other parks would not be valid for Haunt at KD per what Tony wrote in the blog post I linked to above. On Twitter he's being very stressing about that "separate ticketed events" but he's not naming any..... We know that Knotts Scary Farm and probably Scarowinds isn't included in Platinum anymore but how many parks might start doing the separate event thing?

We don’t actually know if Haunt is a separately ticketed event. It is possible that non-Silver pass holders can either re-enter the park or will be held in specific areas, during the changeover.

I'm concerned with Platinum Passholders from other parks (and other parks for KD Platinum). If they are separating the event and not telling anyone right now it's going to be a frustration when that time comes and people find out that they can't access something that they traditionally were able to. I agree that we don't know but that's my entire point..... there is some weirdly worded stuff that could indicate a change that no one is expecting and won't know about until after they have their passes.

The KD 2023 passes have been on sale now for the past week, and I have to admit that I am already VERY much loving the new season pass Drink Plan+ option; which is also good for the remainder of the 2022 season.

For anyone who has not seen it, the Drink Plan+ is $15 more and gets you free ICEE's, hot chocolate or coffee (where the latter two would be WinterFest-only options I would suppose).

Last Friday (8/12), the day after the 2023 passes went on sale, none of the staff at the drink/ICEE locations knew about the new option; which made things pretty frustrating, especially as both my kids were really looking forward to it.

At Guest Services, they knew of the new option. But admitted how they only learned of it that morning, on how corporate (Cedar Fair) had just offered up for sale the day before. So it's interesting (but at the same time not) to see the apparent lack of communication.

But aside from those first day issues, all staff since then seems to know of the Drink Plan+ option, and has always given me a paper cup with no issues. -Where as a side note: I really wish both SEAS and SIX would adopt the same paper cup drink plan, as I really hate carrying around a giant plastic souvenir bottle, and love that aspect of my visits to all the Cedar Fair parks.

So for KD 2023 season... though we have no new attractions announced, I honestly do not think I will mind in the slightest, now that the park is offering the ICEE option for the hot summer months 😉

So for anyone yet to buy their 2023 passes, make sure to give the Drink Plan+ option a look, provided of course you plan to visit enough to make it worthwhile.

I’ve been looking at getting a KD season pass for a little while now. This may help me determine if I get one.

We had problems the first time we tried to get a cup this morning. We stopped by Guest Services and they confirmed the benefit was on the passes, so we then headed over to a drink station and had no problem getting drinks.

One more note here: If you are Platinum and thinking of ponying up the incremental $15 to get ICEEs at other Cedar Fair parks, fair warning...

"Valid for fountain beverages at all parks; only valid at Kings Dominion for ICEE, hot chocolate and coffee. Not valid for specialty hot chocolate. Not valid at Starbucks or Cinnabon."

My All Season Drink pass experience at KD made me vow to never do one again, and frankly it and the dining is why I dropped KD in the first place.

I feel like you gotta elaborate on this @warfelg. Aside from being-on-the-bleeding-edge-of-a-new-product-style hiccups, I've seen nothing but praise for the guest experience with these programs...

I'm curious.... have you been to KD or BGW this year?

Day one, my pass didn’t work for either thing. I was told they would reimburse and that never happened.

Day two, they wouldn’t let me use my refillable cup and this is when they charged for replacement cups.

On hot days when I tried to refill at the same spot they told me I couldn’t do two in a row at the same spot. And my first three visits they were out of the food that fell under the plan at the spots I tried to go to.

How long ago was this?

I literally bought a dining plan and used it like 30 minutes later without issue back in 2019. Antidotal for sure, but the system seems to be in place to facilitate it at least.

I don't have any experience with the drink cups as I despise carrying them (and hence, never buy them), but I've never had any of the issues you described since KD launched the cupless plan (something I ALWAYS buy as it DRAMATICALLY improves my park experience to a degree I can't even begin to quantify).

Same year.

We never had any issues with the paper cup refill plan and how do I wish SF would adopt the same thing. But... I really miss Panda Express, because the trick we found was that Panda Express, for whatever reason, would give you a larger paper cup instead of the small one, so we always went there at least if the line wasn't long. This was repeatable. We never didn't get the larger cup from that location. Bring back Panda Express please. lol.

Irony - My issues with the cup tended to come at the station right outside Panda.

Just as an aside - I’m really bad about hydrating myself so when I need a drink I’ll chug down like 3 straight. So the small cup was gone fast.

But usually I would stop to get a drink, they would tell me I can’t get two in a row with the same cup, so I would go into Panda. Never dawned on me I got a different size.

And replace Grain and Grill? You out yo mind imo

Can you renew a Platinum Pass at a park you did not get the pass from? I.e. my platinum pass was purchased from Canada's Wonderland and is set to expire soon after a lot of covid extensions. Can I renew it at Kings Dominion and get the renewal perks at KD?

Also, I have to report that we DID have a drink plan issue yesterday. This was the first visit to a CF park this year and we used our pass to get a paper cup "refill", except the person first tried to give us a plastic cup and I told her I wanted the paper cup refill. So she gave me that. Same with my son. However the next time we tried to use it they told us we didn't have it on our cards! So we just went without. I went to guest services to see if it could be sorted out but all they could tell me was that it was not on our passes. And I told them the passes were purchased from CW, and then they said maybe it doesn't work at other parks, which I know is not true because we used it last year just fine. So that sucks. But in the end it only mattered for yesterday because our passes expire next week and we won't be back before then.

Apologies if this has been answered already... Does Cedar Fair have a yearly sale similar to SEAS Black Friday sale? I prefer to pay for my passes all at once, and not sure if there are any larger sales that come around once a year.
