If they were those big lights from the trees, I’m not surprised those are trashed at all. Those things were on their last legs anyway.

Yikes to just trashing and not sending to other parks. That's a really bad sign.
They built a whole new storage area at the front of the park area for WinterFest so am not sure that they would have needed to throw much away for that reason.
I’m quoting myself to add for a company looking to sell parks and land potentially to just be trashing all this stuff that can have parts and whole items salvaged for literally thousands of other uses is a joke IMO.
And to be clear, the lights @horsesboy found were literally just half-filling a random trash can in Candy Apple Grove. It almost requires a scenario beyond parody to imagine how those lights got there right before the park opened.
I don't know how anyone at corporate made the decision that they should just trash decorations they spent millions on, but it does seem completely and totally insane.

So I was able to take a look at the lights trashed by the amphitheater from Reptilian… and they are actually Planet Snoopy lights in storage containers on the Kingswood stage! False alarm!
No the warehouse at the front of the employee lot didn't exist till Winterfest and was built for that purposem
Question: Does anyone with good intel think there is a chance that this event could come back in the future? Like not this year, but in the next year or two? The more time that goes by, the more baffled I become by its cancellation, in all honesty.

Valleyfair cancelled their haunt and brought it back a few years later. It would be really nice for Winterfest to come back if public demand is high enough.

I think that there is not only a chance but that the odds are slightly in favor of it happening. There was a large pass cancelation after the announcement an if that continues into fewer
this fall the argument that losing it hurt the brand only grows. This was a corporate call not a park call an one that the park fought hard.

I don't know that it was just Winterfest but I know from reliable sources that KD's customer service set a record for pass refunds the week of the announcement an that was counting Covid cancelations an refunds. Their customer service line crashed at least a few times from overload. My understanding is there was quite a bit of we told you so from the park to corporate the week of the announcement.
If I hadn't gotten a phenomenal price on the all parks pass this year, yes, I would have canceled my pass over Winterfest, same as when I canceled my SFA pass over the loss of Holiday in the Park.
The main thing is to EXPAND INTO JUNGLE X!
That’s one of the prime spaces for the event due to the following:
-2 INDOOR dining venues (Outpost Cafe & Jungle Market Eatery)
-1 FULLY INDOOR ride (FoF)
-2 or 3 more rides that could be available for WF (Tumbili [for the love of Pete this thing ran in literal snow on its media day], Arachnidia, and Reptilian)
-HUGE Christmas decoration possibilities to go with the jungle X theme, as well as more stunning light displays
-maybe a Christmas version of “Let’s Get Wild!”?
Could, yes. Should, no. The effort needed to change tire compounds and other issues would not be worth the effort. The wheel compounds would have to be able to survive the water spay system being winterized when the temps drop below freezing.
The park has enough problems keeping it running during the core operating season. There's no reason to increase its cycles further during a season when few would ride it anyway.
