I think this is the first time I've ever been truly angry at KD (or, probably more accurately, their parent company). I've been disappointed, sure, with things like Volcano's removal, but everything until now has been either been something not completely within their control or something minor enough to deal with.
This one sucks. It feels, coupled with the unannounced ride removals and potentially more on the way, disrespectful. The implication is that SF feels they can take away valuable elements of the park experience and we'll just keep paying.
Sadly, I've become used to feeling that sort of disrespect coming out of BGW, which was what I originally considered my "home park" and which sparked my love of theme parks. Over the past decade or so, I've slowly come to accept that BGW has been becoming a shell of what it once was at the hands of corporate goons. KD became my new "home" as I saw that park being managed by people who, while still in the game to make money, seemed to have respect for the park and its guests and believed adding value to the park experience was how they'd win in the end.
Now it feels like both of my beloved Virginia parks have finally fallen to Wall Street. This feels like a punch in the face. I know this might be an overreaction to the cancellation of Wintrefest, but such a dramatic loss being announced so suddenly (and yet, so quietly) feels like the beginning of bad things to come.
I think I might start focusing more on my other hobbies from here on out.
