So, uh, they're definitely gonna refund people who paid for season-long house admission... right... right...?

What an absolute clown show. This is just like what happened when Kings Dominion experimented with a separate admission for Haunt a few years ago. The park decides that they want the event to make more money so they implement a new, shitty pricing structure that screws over pass members and pisses everyone the fuck off. Then, after successfully achieving the maximum amount of reputational harm and loss of customers from the change, they freak the fuck out, hit the panic button, undo everything, and experience none of the potential long-term upsides of the change. It's literally the absolute worst of both worlds and to see Kings Dominion step on the EXACT SAME RAKE AGAIN would be absolutely enraging if it weren't so incredibly hilarious.

Hopefully this isn't a sign of danger for the event moving forward, but frankly, it's so clear that management has absolutely no idea what the hell they're doing that, sadly, they'll deserve whatever pain comes.

Actual, literal, 🤡 behavior.

My thought would be make Saturdays an up charge to keep it manageable and make Friday/Sunday free. The Saturday we went was great compared to any past year, and I would gladly pay $10/person to guarantee that kind of experience on what are frequently awful days to visit.

And this is why I did not spend any money on the all season Haunt pass. The more I've gone to Haunt, the more I had a feeling this was not going to last long and that it would come back to haunt them. Most of my trips so far have been pretty quiet. On top of that, there were still many people that were unaware and upset about being charged for mazes. Still, what a huge Fuck You to those who bought an all season or even a single day Haunt pass in advance. Unless the park is going to refund, I'd be pissed off.

Also, is this just Kings Dominion? Or did the rest of the parks in the chain also drop the upcharge as well?

Dorney got rid of theirs

I have never been more thankful to be so indifferent to parks’ haunt trails. Granted, even if I did care, I likely wouldn’t have bought a pass anyway being that a trip to any park is a whole ass event and debacle for me living in the Charleston area, but that’s not the point.

I’m pissed for anyone who paid for a pass. I’ve remained optimistic about a LOT of the past year’s changes, but there is quite literally no way to defend this shit.

As someone who paid for a season long upcharge admission I am livid about this!

They better refund y’all for those passes too. That’s insane
Technically, anyone who bought the "All-Season Haunted Attraction Express Pass" bought an "All-Season Haunted Attraction EXPRESS Pass," getting you the ability to skip lines. Note that they are still selling the daily Haunted Attraction Express Pass. I would not expect refunds to be issued by default, but I imagine that if you called them up and asked nicely, they might be able to help you out.

KD did not sell the all season haunted attractions express pass, they sold the all season haunted attractions pass that only gets access to the regular lines to the mazes. So the add on is now worthless with the uncharge being gone for the rest of this season.

I didn't think KD sold an all season haunt skip the line pass though. Because of that, there is now zero benefit remaining for those that purchased all season maze access. Anybody that purchased one needs to be reimbursed in some fashion ASAP.

Also from the Charleston area. Have you been to Boone hall fright nights?

Bare minimum, this should’ve been rolled out NEXT year if they wanted to test the waters, and they should’ve committed to it through the end of the season rather than pissing off everyone who spent money. Having grown up with Great Adventure as my home park, I’m much more used to trails being an upcharge than not, but it’s not something that’s going to work everywhere and it absolutely can not and should not be decided as suddenly as this seems to have been.

I actually just moved here last November. We tend to do our own Halloween festivities and setup, but I may need to check it out with this being an off year due to the fact that we gave away all of our Halloween stuff before we moved.
