Carowinds is my home park, so I am pretty familiar with SCarowinds. Basically, the park closes everyone leaves. Doesn’t matter what ticket or pass you have. The park transitions while we are outside the gate and the they open about 30-1hr before the Scaremony and the event starts. As been that way for as long as I can remember.

I wish they would do a “holding” area for passes that does something exclusive like Spiced Hot Apple Cider or anything.

This all seems like a huge hassle, I’m not too thrilled about the idea of having to wait in my car for an hour if I decide to come to the park before Haunt starts. I’m really not seeing the point of all this?

Some pros of a separately ticketed Haunt:
  1. Creates a direct revenue stream for Haunt which, theoretically, justifies further Haunt investment in the future
  2. Allows the park to implement stricter guest controls for Haunt—chaperone rules, bag restrictions, stroller bans, suspension of Pre-K & Silver Pass access, etc.
  3. Will reduce crowds due to the above ticketing restrictions and the natural cost discrimination introduced through the added cost of an upcharge Haunt
The changeover period will be annoying, but I'd take annoyance before the event over annoyance during the event every time.

We always use this time as tailgating and refreshing before the high energy of the night ahead.

Okay so this then brings me back to my original scenario. What’s to stop someone from telling security “We have gold passes and we already scanned back in” even if they didn’t, or a daily ticket person saying “We have gold passes.” They would have to be able to scan their pass to be able check for that and if they are going to do that anyway, then why even make people with legit gold passes scan a second time at all if security can just scan my pass to verify without me having to go back to the front gate.
Also, if they do close the rides and make everyone rescan. Does that mean everyone will be waiting at the front of the park all crowded together doing nothing and wasting 2 hours of our lives?
Either option is going to lead to a disgruntled guest experience.
Have you never experienced tailgating? This has the potential to be an awesome experience in the parking lot while waiting, and KD would be wise to encourage it.

Also, I’ve just been catching up, but if you think anyone was threatening you, you need to work on your social skills, there wasn’t even a hint of a threat in any of the posts here.

I would like to point out, that while as stated above that Scarowinds requires you to leave and re-enter, the KD website is stating that those with combo tickets and gold passes+ will be able to remain inside the park during the transition period. This leads me to believe some kind of holding/staging area will be there. One thing worth noting is that Cornstalkers is on international street. Could we see a holding area with Dominator/Berserker and Cornstalkers running for the 6-7 hour, exclusively for combo ticket holders and gold passes+?

Does anyone have any info or heard any rumors about new haunt events? I’m eager to find out what possibly might be getting the boot and what is staying!!

They really improved it last year, I was impressed

I will say that the park does an excellent job at taking guest feedback for a new maze or zone and improves it a lot for the next year. GrimmWoods especially proves this and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see even more improvements this year. I think 21 will also be a lot better this year considering they’re already working on it (according to reports on this thread).

This year will be interesting, especially because I haven’t really heard any rumors about what’s coming or being axed. Hopefully we see some things revealed or teased soon. Hopefully chainwide budget cuts haven’t impacted this event.

Dorney isn't planning to announce their Haunt details until early September judging by their comments to media and on their socials today. Hopefully we don't have to wait that long, but maybe we should be mentally preparing to just in case.

Well that’s a bummer…
