Going to Japan in the spring for the Tokyo Marathon and we plan on hitting some of the parks while we're there. We're thinking Tokyo Disney, Disney Sea, Nagashima Spa Land, and maybe Fuji-Q if Eejanaika can run reliably. My only concern, has anyone run into issues with being too tall for coasters in Japan? I'm 6'3", 6'4" on a good day if I'm standing tall and I've never had an issue in the US. I've heard of people the same height sometimes having issues with ride operators measuring them and then having to get a supervisor involved to be able to get on the ride.

As someone else who is too tall to be a thoosie (6’8), it’s absolutely a problem in Japan. I haven’t been but I’ve read enough. Disney parks are gonna be your best bet, as they’re typically really accommodating. If you want real coasters, maybe try Universal Japan. Flying Dinosaur has a max limit of 78”. I’d imagine they enforce them pretty strictly. Best of luck!

I am just shy of 6'4", and I managed to not get turned away from any ride. The tightest was Diving Coaster: Vanish, extreme slouching was needed to fasten that seat belt. All the ride crews were very good at directing me into the rows that were more accommodating.
I have no idea how old anyone in your group is, but if anyone is a senior, be prepared for maximum age limits, they will ask. Of course in the group I was with, all the older people were exactly one year younger than whatever the age limit was.
The larger parks will make you try the test seat.
My favorite memory was when entering the line for Space Mountain, a ride Hostess approced and said "Tokyo Space Mountain is Tokyo small, follow me please" and she led is into the maintenance bay for the ride where they had steps leading up to a spare train as a test seat. Even though everyone in the group fit in the front row - the smallest seats - the line assigner went out of their way to ensure we were not assigned the front rows of the cars, which was greatly appreciated.

I am 6’5” and went to Tokyo Disney parks back in 2019, and I had some issues with some of the rides due to my height.

Raging spirits coaster in Disney sea has a maximum height limit of 6’5” and I was just above that line they check your height at. They are VERY strict about this one.
Two rides that I particularly had an issue with that was unexpected was Journey to the Center of the earth and splash mountain. On journey to the center of the earth, the legroom is very tight in every row on it. It uses the same ride system as test track, so I was expecting same legroom, boy was I wrong! Splash mountain was awful to the point that I couldn’t fit. While it uses the same boats and lap bar as magic kingdoms version, they have seat dividers AND “crotch notches” that make it hard to move my legs around to get the lap bar down. When I told the ride operator I couldn't ride, they all made me exit through the queue; they wouldn't let me out of the exit.
Another one I had difficulty with but it wasn’t as horrible was monsters inc ride and go seek. It was awkward legroom wise but if there wasn’t someone seated next to me it was tolerable. A cool shooting dark ride that’s hard to miss!
I’m also quite a large guy, and so I had some weird interactions with cast members at both parks for some rides that I didn’t have issues with. On soaring:fantastic flight (Tokyo’s version of soarin’), I had a cast member after the preshow insist I would not be able to fit on the ride. When I got to the seat, I had no issues with the seatbelt- just as accommodating as on the other soarin’ attractions. I also had a similar interaction at haunted mansion, but IMO the lap bar doesn’t have to come down as far on this Omni mover like the US parks versions do.

Other than those issues that had come up, I had no issues with fitting on rides like I have had in any other Disney park I’ve been to.
