RE: Announcement Coming In January

Someone on the facebook feed is asking if they're expanding Ireland. I hope not. Not unless they are going to put more in there ride wise. Honestly, I find Ireland boring.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I'm thinking that it is a hint for the Corkscrew Hill revamp... (A pic of Corkscrew Hill would be a little too easy...) :p

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Yeah, they say they're updating it, not expanding. It will be Corkscrew Hill and Emerald Beat being replaced.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Is there any substancial evidence that Corkscrew hill is being updated besides rumors from cast members? All of the clues we've gotten so far ("Everwyld", the casting page on BGW's website, and the picture of the tree) might just be pointing towards the replacement of Emerald Beat.
Questor lasted from 1990 to 1995, and King Arthur's Challenge lasted from 1996 to 2000, so I guess an argument could be made that it's time for an update.
I don't think the HOS maze is much of an indicator of an update. They had the Dark Tower maze inside in 1999, right? So they just took everything down and had King Arthur's Challenge again the following year. Nothing they did for Cavern of Darkness looked very permanent, as it might if they were planning to change the building anyway.
If something does replace Corkscrew Hill and it opens this year, I doubt it will be much more than a new movie. BGE usually introduces the big attractions ever other year (and they just opened Forest of Fun).
If the announcement is that Corkscrew Hill is being closed for a revamp and it's being reopened next year, this may BE the big 2011 attraction. A whole year of being closed would be enough to make a completely different ride system.
Of course this skepticism is being colored by the fact that I would prefer that they keep Corkscrew Hill and spend more money on a new hamlet with a major thrill ride.

Most of the evidence is rumors, but there is also possible coincidence... the writers/directors of Corkscrew Hill are "in development" of a new Corkscrew Hill according to imdb. I had heard that they wanted to make a feature length film out of Corkscrew Hill, but that was five years ago, and imdb has the year for the new Corkscrew Hill as 2010.

Your guess that Corkscrew Hill could actually be the big 2011 attraction if redone and transformed into a new type of ride isn't out of the realm of possibility at this point. Some have said the new attraction will not be a roller coaster but will be some type of hybrid "game changer". That would certainly breathe some life into Ireland (perhaps too much for its size).

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Where is the page where it says they're "in development"? This is all I found:
http://www.imdb.com/company/co0075022/

Is it possible it was a typo (the transposition of the last 2 digits of the year)?

A new concept dark ride in Ireland is probably the most exciting possibility for me at this point. And they have all that space behind Corkscrew Hill if they need to expand the show building.

Also, the tree picture could mean that much of Ireland is being changed. Anyone know how profitable the Castle O'Sullivan dining experience was? Would it warrant replacing? Without the beer school, does the pub need to be kept? I'd love to see a return of that tinker in the wagon! Or could the picture be very literal--the tree is being taken away (I doubt that one).

RE: Announcement Coming In January

My wish and recommendation I sent to BGW a few years back was: If there was an expansion to Ireland, it would have been behind the area next to the Toy Store entrance and it would be a children's area called Land of the leprechauns (to mirror the title Land of the Dragons) where the decorations and design would be a magical theme with dense trees and lush colors. The entrance would have a mister that would create a rainbow effect and all the buildings would look like they came from sort of fae village. 'would have been awesome if you asked me. I even had a little coaster idea called the scream'n banshee. (Kind of like the Wild Maus (a cute coaster if you asked me) Oh well.

The area of "Seaseme Street" (my soul cries every time I see that part of the park) was the area I had mentioned to create some sort of ride for England; the area that needed at least ONE thrill ride. There is sooooo much Bristish History and Literature, the park could have really tapped into that. But alas, we must endure the plague that is called Elmo.

The one thing I wish to see banished from Ireland is wasted space of "Lunch with Elmo" geeze-Louise, do they have to have that red monstrosity everywhere?? It would be nice to see that building converted to something back to the original Catipult Idea.

Maybe a water type ride that dealt with an Irish ship in a storm or something. :-/

RE: Announcement Coming In January

"A new clue for you: What’s 14’ tall, 30’ wide and 52’ long, and is going to be in Festhaus Park this spring?"

Whatever it is, I don't think it'll be much to get excited about if it can get put up so quickly. Seating for the concerts maybe?

*edit*
Unless it's a huge billboard with a concept painting for the new hamlet!

RE: Announcement Coming In January

It's not really the right dimensions for a construction wall, or any construction equipment I can think of, unfortunately.

What about a train station?

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I got it 2ND clue could be a new roller coaster?!? Roller coasters have length and width and long-ness.

train station could be it, for a roller coaster i would say it would have to be another kiddy one, but train station makes a little more sense.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Train station makes sense. My wife and I were riding the train during CT and discussing a new country in Festhaus Park. We both felt like they'd have to put a train stop there.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I do believe that they will be updating Corkscrew Hill for the 2010 season. It makes sense that the ride became a maze during Howl-o-Scream, giving them time on the weekends to do work on the ride's system. That system in ancient, as it's been there for years upon years. Replacing the ride? No, lots of people like the current ride there, however I think IMDB is proof enough that they are upgrading the ride with a new movie and new systems. :)

What about the Festhaus park? I'm leaning more towards a train station. I'm pretty sure the trains aren't 14' tall, and will need some clerance in the station (if they make an overhanging to cover the train like in Caribou). 30' would also give them a pretty good waiting area. Festa Italia is no where near 30' wide. It's kind of cramped, but it works! 52' long sounds about right length-wise too. I was thinking it could be a like a mini LOD for kids to play on while Mom and Dad watch the concerts, however, the concerts take place in the summer, and I'm sure Busch Gardens doesn't want a bunch of unattended kids running and screaming while their parents are busy watching the concerts.

I think a train stop would be a great idea back there. I can't begin to tell all of you how hard it is to get out of the park after a concert lets out. Building a train station back there would help get guests to the front of the park after it's over and get some of the people off the pathways. Let's hope they build a train station. :p

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I think it will be soem type of sports special event with skateboarding.

That would be a huge departure from the type of events held at Busch Gardens and sounds more like something that would happen at a Six Flags of Cedar Fair park.

I would be completely shocked if that happened (and that would be a huge skate/bike park for an unproven event).

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Yeah Train station is the best thing anybody has ever mentioned about the 2nd clue so I'm sticking with that as my answer!!! All in favor type "I" :)

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I dont think we will get a train station until we have the new country expansion. Why would they put a train station back there when the section is only used for special events in the evenings of a couple of weekends of the year.
