New clue!

A new clue for you: What do cuckoo clocks, statues, Leprechauns and balloons all have in common? We’ll have the answer for you soon.

Uh, I have no idea on this one. Other than they're all for sale.

Maybe they're all in something replacing Corkscrew Hill.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I think it could be stuff from the new Corkscrew Hill, since they are updating it.

However, you can get cuckoo clocks in Germany, there are leprechauns in Ireland, the balloon rides are in Italy, and statues are in France I think. So maybe those countries are getting upgraded and these are all things that are in countries that will be getting updated. Oh i got it, this makes sense because

Germany - FHP which will turn into something or get a new ride.
Ireland - Corkscrew Hill and The Irish dance show are being replaced.
Italy - I am not sure, but if you hear something, remember this post!!!!
France - was going to be expanded, (unconfirmed rumor I heard)!!!

Anyone think this could be it????

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Oh, well I was close I think, but if I'm right then what is happening with Italy. Is there any ballon related thing other than Italy.

They cut into the reserve area with the birds and animals

WELL IF THEY WERE GOING TO EXTEND FRANCE, THEY HAVE 2 OPTIONS,

OPTION 1 - NEW FRANCE IS GOING BYE BYE AND FRANCE IS TAKING OVER

(OR)

OPTION 2 - THEY WILL USE SOME OF THE AREA IN THE WILD RESERVE AREA.

WHAT I HEARD WAS THEY WILL MAKE FRANCE BIGGER TO SHORTEN THE WALK BETWEEN FRANCE AND IRELAND. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS FROM THE SAME GUY WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THE 250 FT. BUILDING PERMIT SO IT COULD BE TRUE.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I'm pretty sure that they aren't going to shrink the animal reserve. Also, if they did, I would think that they would extend Ireland, not France. France has a major coaster, what does Ireland have?

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Well, you guys do have a point Ireland has nothing, but if you think about it, Ireland has and exit/entrance way right there, but France has just the open space and train tracks dividing it.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Okay, you've confused me now. The part between the tracks and Ireland's entrance/exit IS the entire animal reserve.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Yeah, and what I am saying is Ireland has a natural exit/ent. like They really can't expand from there because it just wouldn't look right. France has an open space after you cross the train tracks, it would look better to expand from there because it would look better.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

When you're riding the train (which I rarely do), don't you pass a few open fields on the right? And isn't there a little space right behind the Royal Palace? I'm not sure how they'd open it up and make it accessable, but that's one option if they really needed to expand France. I doubt that's what they're doing, however.

I just hope this clue isn't about merchandise. We can't be expected to get excited about merchandise.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Ik merchandise means you have to spend money and I'd rather just get a season pass, and buy snacks, without paying for merchandise. Plus, the stuff can get very boring and expensive.

If it is extended hours they already announced that on their website.

I don't think they would announce it on the site yet. I checked it for hours and show times, but it was the same times as last year, so either they are not changing their hours, or they are but haven't updated it on the site yet. BTW - I went to the Job Fair and I got a general application which comes with the times you would like to work and it is pretty much what their hours are going to be so they can see when you might be working. Therefore they already have their hours planned, and if that is the case they are not staying open later because the hours are the same as last year.

I do not remember them being open until 10 on weekdays (Mon-Thurs)

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Oh, well then maybe they did because I don't remember the exact times they were open last year and I'm assuming they have the same times, so you could be right, they can be open longer. Forget what I said.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

Someone just posted a press release announcing a new shows and attractions for 2010 at BGEscape. It's not on the park's website or Facebook page yet, so it may not be legit.

I did find this posted on the Busch Gardens site:

Busch Gardens and Water Country USA get the Google Maps Street View Treatment
01/21/2010

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Jan. 21, 2010) – Online guests can take a virtual visit to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA in Williamsburg, Va. at any time now that the two theme parks are featured in Street View on Google Maps.

Nearly every inch of the theme parks was mapped using one of Google’s “Trikes,” which used a state-of-the-art camera to automatically gather photographs from the back of a modified bicycle. Google software then blended the images, creating the famous, interactive and completely moveable 360-degree scenes for which Street View is known.

And the best way to make sure every show, splash, adventure and world-class thrill ride was mapped? The 250-pound Trike, complete with camera and GPS mounted on a mast, was pedal-powered by a Google staff member. Consider it the ultimate mix of technology, both high and low.

“We’re thrilled to be among the first theme parks in the world to get the Google Street View treatment,” said Dan Dipiazzo, vice president of marketing for Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. “Now, no matter where you are, you can enjoy an online experience of our parks while planning your vacation. The only thing missing is feeling the first drop of Griffon or getting splashed in Surfer’s Bay wave pool.”

Google Maps began including Street View images in 2007. More than a dozen countries and over one hundred cities now can be seen online. Busch Gardens and SeaWorld theme parks around the country are also included.

"I began thinking about building a bicycle-based Street View system after realizing how many great places around the world aren't accessible by car, but still would be perfect to include in Street View on Google Maps. The immensely popular SeaWorld and Busch Gardens parks are perfect examples of fun and interesting locations that our Trike can add to Google Maps, benefiting families and tourists around the world,” said Dan Ratner, Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Street View team and creator of the Trike.

Street View visits to the parks are accessible via Web and mobile applications. Viewers can start by going to maps.google.com and searching for Busch Gardens or Water Country USA. Then drag the orange “Pegman” icon (found at the top left of the map) for a “walking tour.”

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment operates 10 parks across the U.S. including SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio; Busch Gardens parks in Tampa, Fla. and Williamsburg, Va.; Discovery Cove and Aquatica in Orlando; Sesame Place near Philadelphia, Pa.; and water parks Adventure Island in Tampa and Water Country USA in Williamsburg.

The 10 parks play host to 25 million guests each year and employ 26,000 people nationwide. To learn more, visit www.SeaWorldParksandEntertainment.com or call toll-free 1-888-800-5447. NEWS!

I have thought Busch might put in like Sorin' into Corkscrew Hill since I first heard that it was probably leaving, but then I heard things about how the people who made the current movie where doing another one and I thought it would be like the one we have now, so I never posted the idea, but I was right! Can't wait! I love Sorin'!

RE: Announcement Coming In January

My guess about the "europe in the air" thing is that they will replae the projectors and the movie and reprogram the existing ride system, but that's it. I still fully expect the same (very old, and possibly unrelated to the new film) castle/cave theme in the queue. It'll be interesting to see if they even use the preshow rooms the same way, or if they turn it into a queue like they did with DarKastle.

Swiftman, I love Soarin' too! But without the dome screen, the smells, and the mobility of the seats, I don't think it wil be quite so impresive. I hope I'm wrong, but I also don't see BGE throwing a lot of money at this project.

To be honest, I'm more excited about the new look to the Abbey Stone.

RE: Announcement Coming In January

I wish that they would put some money into it and make it something really nice...
