RE: Project 2017: InvadR

Still doesn't make up for the comfort collars.

On a serious note, the park and/or GCI probably took into consideration how doing away with the seatbelts would help speed up capacity. Given BG's status and large crowds during the peak season it makes sense to want to increase capacity with such a small station footprint and shorter trains.

Some before and after comparisons. Some angles were hard to interpret. Other places the old photos taken from are no longer accessible. So, these are general area shots.

I didn't feel like loading photos all day in the clunky forum way, so this the best you get. :)

I'll plug extras in another post.

The test seat was moved from across the restrooms to between the InvadR sign and Le Scoot's entrance, had anyone else noticed?

I noticed that Sunday and forgot to mention it. I hope that maybe they will get some more visibility and use there as I have personally witnessed a person bumped about every third ride I have taken which is surprising as it has a decent range of fit in the restraints. I know from personal experience now embrassing taking that walk is. I suspect that many people didn't see them back by the restrooms.

RE: Project 2017: InvadR

Maybe they should move it towards the entrance to the queue. Where it is now, people think the entrance to Le Scoot is InvadR's entrance. It feels further away from the entrance too.

I think my only discontent with Invadr is the station mapping. Having the ramp end facing rows two and three makes for a backup getting folks into the rear of the train. Guests wanting to wait for the front row easily spill onto the ramp, which slows down the load. Comet at Hersheypark is similar, and those in the know have to bust through those not in the know, to get a seat mid-train.
Otherwise we loved the ride last weekend. The feel of a woody, good speed sensation, smooth overall, and plenty of forces throwing you around the seat. Looking forward to more rides later this year.

EDIT: Another angle. All before are Pass Member Preview Day and all after are opening weekend.

What is the use/purpose of the new log cabin sort of tower just to the right of the entrance?

With the front row line issue, couldn't the park just add a railing in the middle of the staircase to separate the line? I imagine they could do something like Dominator's line at KD near the station. It seems like it be the best way to keep the line moving since it would keep the front row riders on the right and the rest of people wanting to ride in other rows to the left. The only thing is I can't remember if the stairs are wide enough at InvadR or not.

This is immediately what I thought the first time I got up those stairs, such an easy fix. And yes the stairs are plenty wide, can fit almost 3-4 average sized adults shoulder to shoulder.

RE: Project 2017: InvadR

I got to ride this last Friday 4/27. We went straight back there at 10:00 am and got to ride twice with a 5 minute wait. By the middle of the day, the line queue looked to be full.

It's a good ride but short. It has a nice elements. My favorite part is the ending with the double down and swooping helix.

The theming is outstanding. While the Viking aspect is not really accurate for Canada, they did do an excellent job at making the ride feel overall frontier-sy, with some Viking touches throughout. The numbering of the ride rows with Viking shields and the catapult at the entrance are the main two items, along with the Viking train. Both trains are gorgeous.

A couple of small notes. It would be a much better ride if they could have left more trees up around it. The expecially de-forested the back part of the log flume. Also, the silver supports don't look good with the rest of the area. The would look better painted brown.

The tunnels would be better connected as one long tunnel, and with a floor under the drop tunnel so its actually a tunnel.

Once again and overall, Busch does and excellent job with theming and keeping their new attractions in sync with the overall theme of the area.

This! I didn't even notice the ride numbering until my 7th ride! It was a very nice touch.

I like the shield numbers. But I think the GP will miss, or be confused by deciphering, some of the numbers. I'm looking at you 'ole dumbing down trend à la Aquitaine to France, etc.

RE: Project 2017: InvadR

Just want to bump this thread up to give a shout out to the park for the Passmember extra ride time on Invadr. DH and I went last night and it was fantastic.

We had debated about going -- it was a Saturday, after all.  But given the rainy morning and the coolness of the day, we thought the crowd might be light.  But when I checked the park's FB page a bit before we were set to leave, I saw the kids' concert was a sellout.  Uh oh.  Would there be a Saturday-like crowd after all?  Turns out, though -- NO.  Super light crowd and just my favorite weather for the park -- jacket weather.

So about 8:30 pm (park closing at 10) we found ourselves at Invadr and got in line.  Longer than it looked from outside the queue, the line/wait time was 30 minutes.  Great ride from the front seat.  But the best part was, we asked the Invadr crew member at the front  about the extra ride time -- she knew about it and thought it was still being held.  It was a pleasant surprise that the crew member knew about the existence of the event, and that it was still "on" despite the light crowd!  Yay!

So we returned to Invadr right at 10 and got in line -- short line by that point.  When we got off and walked back around, at this point a few minutes after 10, we were asked to show our passes.  Very nice -- a passmember event should be for passmembers, after all.

So after a few ride cycles, there was basically a small dedicated group riding over and over.  The crew announced that we could ride twice in a row (as long as no one was waiting for your seat) but asked after that if we would get off and walk back through the queue, terming it a safety concern to give yourself a break from the g forces (yes, they said that).  No matter to us, we actually walked through each time because except for one or two rides, we wanted front or back and were willing to wait a ride cycle or two to get the prime spots.

We gave up the ghost about 10:45 with a few diehards still riding, though the group had diminished a lot by then.

I was so glad to see the event held as scheduled, and it was amazing to ride such a new ride over and over as virtually a walk on.

Highly recommended!  Take advantage of pre- or post- hours opportunities if, like me, you hate standing in line.

My husband spoke AGAIN last night of the Griffon breakfast I treated him to for his birthday the year the ride opened -- probably our best park memory ever.  These extra ride times are super, super fun.
