I posted over in the Apollo's chariot page but will add it here. It didn't opperate at all today do to a shortage of staff. It's closer predates the incident and is completely unrelated.Just for the record, Apollo’s Chariot at BGW is closed today.

Any secondary restraint helps, even if it's just a second or two of extra time. The whole "it's only for insurance" thing is stupid. That ride ain’t ever gonna see the light of the day. John Riley ain’t ever gonna see his office again. And seatbelts don’t do shit. They’re simply there for insurance, and they would not have saved his life.
The Ride’s age should have nothing to do with this…. it’s the maintenance department who keeps this thing in running orderAs much as I'd prefer for this to have never happened, the writing has been on the wall for a long time. The ride is 20 years old. I seriously doubt that it just randomly, today, became deadly without some interference from humans. My official bet is that we see a new CEO, more parks will be sold, we will probably see Six Flags Over Georgia continue but without Goliath. Really absurd but this park is one of few that could have an accident like this. Yet another stain on the merger. I wonder how legacy Cedar Fair shareholders feel now.
Six Flags Over Georgia in particular, I have heard of some very sketchy things going on behind the scenesThis is absolutely horrific. What was supposed to be a fun day turned into tragedy for these people. People are going to be traumatized for life because of this.
This should never happen regardless of the circumstances.
However, something like this happening at a Six Flags Park is absolutely not surprising with all of the cost cutting measures.
The screen is a busch thing. It's not a B&M thing. So this is similar to Apollo? Doesn’t Apollo have a screen that turns green when the seat is secure? How would a ride op miss something like that?
Yes that is my point. I don't think the ride's age is a factor. There are older hypers that have never done this. This is more than likely a problem caused by the park. The Ride’s age should have nothing to do with this…. it’s the maintenance department who keeps this thing in running order
Our B&M Hyper was the first one ever built and I’ve never felt unsafe on it before
This sounds like a complete restraint failure….. and judging from what I’ve heard about maintenance & operations at Six Flags Over Georgia.
Somebody is definitely going to prison over this

Those sensors are not 100% accurate and can even be manipulated by a rider holding a restraint down that is why the hands up manual pull release check by an opperator us mandatory. So this is similar to Apollo? Doesn’t Apollo have a screen that turns green when the seat is secure? How would a ride op miss something like that?
Let’s not jump straight to “the ride will definitely be removed” and leave that to the Facebook groups. This was almost certainly human error in some form, whether that was in the station or in maintenance.Say goodbye to Goliath while you still have time
Agreed. I don’t think this ride will be closed if they’ve determined this was human errorLet’s not jump straight to “the ride will definitely be removed” and leave that to the Facebook groups. This was almost certainly human error in some form, whether that was in the station or in maintenance.
How is this stuff even available to the public? Awful stuffSo it looks like it happened before the onride photo. A friend of mine shared the onside photos and it’s pretty horrific. Prayers to the family.
I second this. Horrible stuff.Whole thing was caught on the onride photo… do not look it up. It is very graphic.
