Can they not afford to do everything themselves? Why do they have to contract other companies and such to do work for them?

The park does some things for themselves. Illuminights, however, is only about 50% "in-house" Most of the contracted companies have been working with the park for years. The lighting designer they were talking about is Ken Billington. He is an award winning lighting designer and has been in charge of lighting design at the park for years, but yes he is all the way from New York.

Still, I think the park should do it al themselves, since their so great at the work they do.

The fact that the park brings in a renowned Tony-Award-winning lighting designer who has done over 90 Broadway shows is an epic WIN. Ken Billington is awesome. They are incredibly lucky to have him.
Some of the other contracted work could be done by staff, but the department isn't large enough to handle the workload.

Hire more people then, I can understand getting an award winnin lighting designer but for all the other little things, there's much thy can do by themselves. Time to get rid of those training wheels.

They don't need all that staff during other parts of the year. This way, they can bring in people with very specific talents and only pay them when they need to. Cheaper for the park, better for the event. Seems like a win-win to me.

I was told to move my question from Festhaus to here, Illumni Nights.
The reason why it was in the Festhaus thread was because the buffet and fireworks watching program is in the Festhaus neighborhood.
So, here's the question ...
This question is not necessary for the inside part of Das Festhaus but the outside ... the Festhaus Park / Black Forest Picnic Pavilion.
With all that canopy of trees, how can anyone see the 2012 fireworks on July 4th ?
Will we eat there and then be moved to somewhere else in the park?
I have signed up for the buffet / watching the fireworks at eight thirty PM.

Thats a good question. I've only been back there when queueing up for Bitten during Howl-O-Scream. I wouldn't think you can see the fireworks very well. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved you all to Festhaus Park were Drachen Fire used to be for the fireworks. I bet you can see them great there.

You would eat in the black forest area and then be moved right beside the festhause in a parking lot area. You will definitely be able to see the fireworks from were you will be at its a perfect view from there. If I am not mistaken they shoot the fireworks off in Italy and were Drachenfire use to be.
