RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

Illuminights will be returning this year from July 1 to Aug 19.

Busch Gardens celebrates summer with IllumiNights, a nightly extravaganza featuring live performances, music and special effects that culminates in a park-wide firework spectacular. Beginning July 1 through Aug. 19 each country will celebrate IllumiNights in its own way with multiple performances throughout the evening. Fifty nights of fireworks provide a perfect ending to a summer evening.

This is what I would like to see, but to them park-wide apparently means just the far end of the park. I understand it is more economical to do a main display and two smaller ones, but come on, if you are going to advertise a park-wide fireworks spectacular, have fireworks all over. I am pretty sure they can afford a main display, along with four smaller ones in the countries that take part in Illuminights. Ireland did this wonderfully except in 2011. France could do this easily as well. After all, they have an entire outdoor theater not being used anytime soon before, during or after the fireworks. Use it to your advantage. Plus, Italy has their stables and Germany has the Festhaus Park. You have great locations in each country to be able to do it, so why not do it!

One place for fireworks is fine if you ask me- "park-wide" is referring to the different "show" locations.

To achieve the level of performance needed, palace would not be suitable for a fireworks site(maybe the bison pen?). Stables is ok for festa and barely visible for san marco. the heavy stuff fires off the bridge and is pretty much visible from the entire park. FHP now has a coaster nearby which could be an annoyance for debris clearing...all in all I think one grandiose site would be sufficient..

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

Swift, it specifically said park-wide fireworks. Not park-wide celebration or shows, which means the fireworks are meant to be seen all over.

Ivy, I will give you that RPT may not be the best place, but I am sure they could do something in the area. For San Marco, they could use behind the train station/stables, you get an amazing view of the smaller show there. The main display is very limited to where you can/can't view it. Mostly it is because of the trees. At least parts of Ireland, parts of England, Scotland, and I am sure parts of New France can't see the fireworks period. As for FHP, Big Bad Wolf was there or did Illuminights start in 2010? I have lost track of when it started, I thought it was 2009 it started but I can be wrong. Anyways, I am sure being able to make sure Verbolten can run afterwards would not be that much of a problem.

All in all, I honestly think the park could do it, they could reach their full potential. Plus, I was very upset with the park the first year of Illuminights. It was advertised the trees would light up, and I imagined the trees actually lighting up with like rope light or something, and nothing.

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

Since its only about a month or so away, lets put some life back in to this thread.

I believe they already started setting up for Illuminights. I think Voila! is coming back. I believe the truss was put up, or at least that is what it looked like from afar.

Also, I think Verbolten will be good to run after fireworks. Most debris will probably land on the top of the event building.

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

There hasn't been too much buzz about this. I'm assuming it will be a carbon copy of last year's event. It's fewer days too (last season was fewer than they year before as well).

By the way, their fireworks cost them approximately $10,000 per day.

Edit: sounds like the Ku Ku Clock for Illuminights has been scrapped, according to the bald drummer from MSR.

I can confirm that the Volia "Pink" theme in France is returning.

I wonder what will replace the Cuckoo Clock?

I would hope so, they've had the truss where the stage is up for weeks now.

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

Why did they excessively use the Cuckoo Clock in the brochure if they weren't bringing it back?

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

I really don't see the issue, the cuckoo clock show was pretty bad. Besides, the park is just giving people what they want.

*Points at Entwined outrage*

Yeah, people really want a kiddy show about farm animals.
